I am with in a day of being 11 weeks pregnant and had my second appointment today. My midwife did a doppler ultrasound and we were unable to find a heartbeat. She said that I have a tilted uterus and that it can be harder to find a heartbeat and usually after 12 weeks the uterus straightens out and you can then hear it.

I was wondering if anyone else has ran into this situation or had any similar experiences?

We did opt for and ultrasound tomorrow so that we can be sure everything is ok.

I think my Dr. had mentioned once that my uterus is tilted, but that was said to me with my first and I had never heard it again. That being said, I didn't hear my second child's heartbeat until 17 weeks. With the twins I didn't hear until 13 weeks and then only heard one of them, course we weren't looking for 2 heartbeats at that point.

Let us know how it goes.

I had an appointment a week ago at exactly 11 weeks, and my doctor did not even try doppler, but did a quick ultrasound right away. It's very common not to hear a heartbeat with the doppler until later in pregnancy.

What a relief! Seeing a heartbeat, and lol only ONE! :) That's how I felt when I found out our most recent baby was only one. CONGRATS!!!

Glad everything looks fine. I too have a tilted uterus, and it was difficult for them to find the hb the last two times on doppler. The baby tends to hang out on the left side of me early on, so I think it's tilted that way.

When pg with the twins (new it was twins at 7 weeks), the OB didn't even bother checking for the heartbeats at 11 weeks. Basically didn't want to freak me out in case he couldn't find them, which is relatively common that early on.

I also have a tilted uterus but I am not sure that really has much to do with it. My doc could not hear the Hb's with a doppler until about 16 weeks and even then it was a hunt.

Glad to hear the US went well!!

    Yay!!
