Well it looks like the girls will make there entrace this Thursday at 34 weeks and 3 days.
They have fallen into the 5&3rd % and the Dr. says that it is time to take them.
I'm happy and nervous and I sad because I know the girls will be small and will have to go into the NICU. But the Dr. feels that it is better to have 2 34 weekers that are in good condition than to have 2 35 weekers that are in bad condition.
Can anyone tell me what condition I can expect the girls to be in. Feeding tubes? Oxygen?
    TIA

Just wanted to let you know my miracle was born at 34 weeks and 3 days and spent NO time in the NICU [IMG] she weighed 5lbs but did drop in the hopsital to 4lbs 8 oz. I did have the steroid shots and they did do an amnio the day before delivery to check her for lung maturity which she did pass.
I will say though they should of kept her in the hospital due to feeding issues as all she would do is sleep all day and started to lose weight and we had to keep going back to her pedi everyday for a weight check.
I do think your Dr is doing the right thing since you have issues with IUGR that was are issues too with baby B (Hailey) and my Dr's let the ball drop and due to that we lost our precious one. 34 weeks is great for twins, if any problems it's mostly grower and feeder issues, nothing too major.

Happy day to you this Thursday and please post when you can on how you and your babies are doing.

How exciting only 2 more days and then Happy Birthday [IMG] [IMG]

34 weeks is a huge milestone! I am sorry to hear about the growth issues but I was going to say that we definitely have some 34 weekers who did not experience any time in the NICU, glad to see Debi found this thread! I would venture a guess that if they do need NICU time it would primarily be feeders and growers but it is just soo hard to guess when there are soo many variables.

You have surpassed some important milestones and that is great! We will be thinking of you Thursday. Please let us know how things are going when you can! Best of luck with your delivery!

Thanks for the reassurances. I just don't feel ready to have these babies. Even knowing 2 weeks ago they told me that I could deliver I figured they would still be in for a few more weeks.
I'll update after the girls get here as soon as I can.

34 weeks is great! And remember, gestation is a bigger factor than weight usually. Also, girls' lungs typically mature faster than boys, so you have that going for you as well. Can't wait to read your birth story!

Hi! I have very recent experience with this. Please go to our Babysite (link below) and read my journal entries. I hope you'll find it helpful!

Our girls were 0th and 10th %tile when they were delivered at 35 weeks. They spent 3 weeks in NICU and were very healthy! I think you can expect the same. Please be encouraged; your dr is absolutely right. 34 wks really is great and you will soon be blessed with two tiny warriors!

Post and let us know how things are going when you can! Good luck
