My almost 11 week old girls have thrush and have not been wanting to take much in each feeding. They are drinking maybe half of what they used to in each feeding- not sure if it is the thrush or a growth spurt......anyone have this happen with thrush?

I have heard that thrush will affect their appetite. Thrush is a yeast so its itchy, and it also makes the milk taste different.

Good luck!! Hope it clears soon!

My guys never cared when they had thrush....they still ate the same & acted the same. In fact, after 2 rounds of treating it, we just stopped & let it run it's course. We had it back & forth for QUITE a while when they were real little and every round was only found by ME looking for it. Otherwise, they were the same as they always were.

It changed the eating habits of my girls. Lauren went on a nursing strike until it cleared up. Natalie took less for awhile and would fuss during feedings. But once it cleared up they went back to eating the way they did before. (About a week).

Rowan is not affected but Kieran refuses to eat when he has it. The med (fluox-something) clears it up in 2 days, so see the ped. My boys have had it 4 times, I started to notice that when I steam the nipples (after being cleaned with soap and water) in the medla steam bags they come down with a case of it. I have stopped using them and now soak the nipples in equal parts water/vinegar wash with soap and then boil. It seems to be working. Good Luck I HATE thrush.
