My DD was throwing up yesterday this happends every month or so. last time was actually beginning of december. yesterday was 5am i started hearing her making dry heave noises. I knew exactly what that meant. she is almost 9 months old and has a hystory of reflux. the doctor said she just has a weak tummy. so i go through the routine of keeping her calm so she doesn't throw up. every half hour she does and she won't hold anything down at all pedialite nothing. it usually lasts for 7-8 hours then she is able to get some pedialite in and hold it down. so i do the only thing i can is listen to her and when she is hungry she lets me know and then that's when she is able to hold down the pedialite. i cry when she throws up and i hold her when she sleeps after that all the while praying she gets better soon because i don't want her to dehydrate.
does this happen to anyone else?

Oh wow, if it was something that happened every month or so, and it is not viral, I think I would be asking for a referral to see a GI doc, just to rule out reflux or anything else that it could be. Poor baby girl! :hug99:

she does have reflux. wheit first happened and she was in the hospital on i.v. the doc said she is fine and would grow out of it. they also told me that if was happening every week or every day then there was a problem but since it is only happening 1x a month or longer she's fine.

Well, I agree that it probably won't cause her too much harm if it's only one day of the month, but not keeping anything down for 8 hours is still concerning! Did she see a GI doc when she was in the hospital? Is she on reflux meds? Do you think a particular food could be causing it? :hug99:

well she was taking zantac because she was spitting up all the time. when she started to get solids that stopped all together. so she was off zantac. when she was at hospital they took blood tests for viral and xrays on stomache and chest. no i don't think she saw a GI doc. I was so completely out of it emotionally then and they were doing so many tests and my main concern was getting her to eat. I don't think it's from food because she has gotten nothing new either. we started solids at 6 months. i did ask the doctor if she needed to be on the zantac again and he said no because she isn't spitting up like she was and she is otherwise healthy. she started throwing up at 5am and kept some pedialite down at 3pm. i know its a long time and i kept checking for signs of dehydration. she is doing fine now like nothing was even wrong. thats how quick it comes about. one second she is fine then WHAM she's throwing up then WHAM ok let me eat now. all i had to do was give her belly time to rest. it usually takes 2-3 hours after she stops throwing up.

I would definitely request to see a Pediatric GI. They have more knowledge about reflux with babies. I saw one with my boys for reflux and it really, really helped. I hope she feels better soon.
