I am wondering if anyone else experienced or is experiencing this... I've been having the pins and needle sensation on my left thigh that spreads down my leg and then goes numb. I assumed this was pretty normal; that some nerve was getting pinched. This only occurs for me when I am standing for too long or walking too much. I take it as a cue to sit down and stop doing anything else and it goes away after about 5 minutes or so.

But here's where something totally new just started and where I am stumped... my left arm started to do the same thing a couple of days ago. The whole pins and needles thing and numbing, etc. It happened when I layed on my left side. I took it to simply be that I layed on it wrong, but after shaking it several times, it wouldn't "wake up". It was numb and had a dull ache. It started at my elbow and went down to my fingers. My fingers were feeling stiff and making a fist felt weird.

My wedding ring doesn't fit anymore, pretty normal I am sure. I had started wearing a much looser ring in its place. Now it, too, doesn't fit. I am beginning to worry about the swelling. I had pre-e with my first pregnancy and it was pretty bad. I've been doing GREAT thusfar; blood pressure has been wonderful, no signs of protein in my urine and just the normal pregnancy swelling; nothing crazy.

This morning I woke up in so much pain. My left arm was throbbing and just tingling and aching so very bad. It felt partially numb, partially tingly and the pain was shooting down from the elbow to the tips of my fingers. And my fingers are so swollen and stiff. Is this normal!?!? I've never heard of this happening during pregnancy but it has to be related.. is this a sign of pre-e?? I can't lay on my left side or my arm starts to throb so bad and hurt so very much that it brings me to tears. I wrapped a heating pad around it and it helped some, but maaan the pain is horrible!

Anyone have any insight as to what is causing this?? Is this normal?? Am I doomed to have pre-e again...?? I'll be seeing my OB tomorrow and the peri on Thursday so I'll be mentioning this, but wanted to see if anyone here had any idea on what's happening.

The leg thing is probably linked to sciatica, i've fought that with every pregnancy. As far as the arm goes, I get lovely knots in my shoulder area that constantly causes my arm to do that at night, but i've never had the swelling, so i dont know what to say to that. Try to get someone to massage the top of your shoulder and around your shoulder blade and see if that helps at all. definitely talk to your dr and good luck!

first I would say you need to talk to your doctor about this. discomfort is one thing but I think a doctor should know about any pain you are experiencing.

I agree. I had that too. Massages are great for that.

I will also say that I had the arm thing too but never when I was awake. I would wake up every night several times with a throbbing arm adn I w ould have to change positions. Then in the morning, my arm would be totally numb adn I wou ld not have any use of it. I couldn't bend my arm or even wiggle my fingers. After about a minute I woud get a VERY sharp pain thorughout my arm as the feeling came back and it would eventually become pins & needles then go away. Doc told me it would go away when the pregnancy ended and it did. It was terrible while it lasted though and I have to admit I was scared that I wo uld wake up one morning and n ot get the use of my arm back. My arms are fine now.
A chiropractor may be able to adjust you get things that may be pinched loosened up for you too. I didn't have the swelling.

I totally had the arm thing early on. It felt like a pinched nerve. It did go away. Call your Dr. if you are in a lot of pain.

I had something similar carpal tunnel. It went away after they were born.

I thought I'd update since I saw both the OB and peri. My OB assured me it is totally normal and to expect it to continue hurting till I deliver. It is a severe carpal tunnel thing. She did say to watch for any red splotches on my arm, any warm spots, etc. because then it can be a blood clot and if that happens I need to go straight to the ER. Sames goes for my thigh/leg. As long as it is just the tingly/numb and occasional throbbing pain, there is not much I can do. I can use a heating pad to help, and that does indeed help, but aside from delivering I am just going to have to live with it.

So anywhooo thanks to all those who replied!! I am relieved to know it's a normal pregnancy thing and all is looking good with the babies. :)
