Three quick and possibly silly questions to ease my mind

Ok, I saw my ob today and now that I am home I am wondering a few things (which I wish I wondered at the obs so he could answer my silly questions):

    1. With di / di twins when the membranes rupture, is it possible for only one sac to rupture? If so do you then need your waters broken on the second sac?

    2. I am being weighed every time I go into my ob. This fortnight I have put on NO weight. I haven't lost any but haven't gained any. He never said it was cause for concern, but now that I am home I am concerned! He asked my husband if he was starving me. I am eating as normal. Should I be concerned? (BTW my fundal height is 41cm).

    3. My last ultrasound showed I had developed mild polyhydramnios (increased amniotic fluid) in twin 2. I was told it was nothing to be concerned about ... but I am concerned because it was mentioned. Has anyone else experiencing this? Did it effect you or your babies in any way?

Thanks in advance ladies. I suppose as this pregnancy is ini its last legs I am blowing every little thing out of proportion!

Try not to stress yourself out too much Momma!! With twins you one sac can rupture at a time, and I know with Amy (summerfun) her twins were actually delivered 10 days apart! Also, just because you have PROM does not necessarily mean that you will imminently deliver. One of my friends had her water break at 26 weeks and did not deliver until 33 weeks.

As far as the Weight gain and the difference in fluids, I would say that if your Dr is not concerned about it, don't worry. I know it's easier said than done, but it is so important to stay positive for the sake of your babies. I am positive that if something was concerning to your Dr he would relay that information to you. Good Luck!!

    1. With di / di twins when the membranes rupture, is it possible for only one sac to rupture? If so do you then need your waters broken on the second sac? my twins were mono/di so they had seperate sacs. baby A's water broke on its own during labour, then they broke baby B's water after baby A was delivered.

He never said it was cause for concern, but now that I am home I am concerned! He asked my husband if he was starving me. I am eating as normal. Should I be concerned? (BTW my fundal height is 41cm). i would agree with PP - if your doc isn't worried you should try not to as well!

I was told it was nothing to be concerned about ... but I am concerned because it was mentioned. Has anyone else experiencing this? Did it effect you or your babies in any way? my baby B had polyhydramnios from about 27 weeks on - they were concerned about TTTS but it never developed into anything (this would only be a concern if your twins were mono/di or mono/mono though). they just monitored the girls closely - baby B just liked a bigger bath i guess. although, apparently, a whole lotta amniotic fluid came rushing out when they broke her water during delivery. DH described it as a waterfall.

take a deep breath - it sounds like you and your LOs are doing great.

I get weighed every week here in the hospital and for 2-3 weeks I weigh the same and then all of a sudden in the 4th week I have gained 3-5 lbs. The doctors are not concerned about it and they have never expressed a concern, even when I asked about it. He said I was gaining what I needed to gain. If your doctor isn't concerned I wouldn't worry about it, but just to ease your mind maybe you should just ask him.

They broke both of my waters, but I know it's possible!

I gained like 11 lbs from 20 weeks until 31 weeks when my babies were born. I was constantly worried about weight gain and ate every scrap of food they brought me (I was in the hospital that whole time). The babies were great weights for their gestation though, so not to worry!

My baby B also had increased amniotic fluid at some point. Nothing bad came of it and like the PP, when his water broke, it soaked everyone nearby :)

My waters broke at totally different times, each just before delivering that twin, and my girls are an hour and 6 min apart. As for the other things, if your Dr's not worried, I wouldn't stress over it at all.

Thanks Ladies. I was really curious about the water breaking question.

As for my weight gain I was sent for another growth scan ysterday. Turns out that my little twin Rosie has only put on 140grams in the last fortnight and my other twin, Penny has put on 500grams. They are now weighing at 4 pounds 8 ounces and 3 pounds 2 ounces. Because Rosie's growth has slown significantly it looks like they may do a c-section in the next fortnight. I am so scared now there is an end in sight. I wish I could have gotten these girls a bit bigger, but as I have learnt from this site many low weight babies do really well. So please keep your fingers crossed for me and keep my bubs in your prayers.
