I just need some reassurance that I am on the right track for my girl's daily routine. I just feel like I'm not doing something right or that I could be doing more. So, I was wondering if some of you wouldn't mind sharing what your 3 month old routine is like or what it was like. this is just approximate because it does change on a daily basis...sometimes they eat more or less and want to eat sooner or later than every 3 hours.

    7:00 a.m. - wake up and eat 4 - 5 oz bottle
    7:15 - 8:15 - play
    8:15 - 10:00 - nap
    10:00 - eat 4- 5 oz bottle
    10:15 - 11:15 - play
    11:15 - 1:00 - nap
    1:00 - eat 4 -5 oz bottle
    1:15 - 2:15 - play
    2:15 - 4:00 - nap
    4:00 - eat 4 - 5 oz bottle
4:30 - nap (trying to eliminate this nap)
    5:30 - light play
6:00 - get ready for bed: bath time, get into pjs
    6: 30 - read bed time books
    6:45 - eat
    7:00 - kiss, bed
    2 a.m. - 3 a.m. - eat

the girls are still eating 6 times a day. sometimes of my girls will sleep through the night...i think she is still getting used to the concept. i'm wondering when they are going to drop that early morning feeding...hopefully soon.

for some reason the search engine wouldn't let me search for "3 month routines" so that is why I posted this new topic. I'm sorry if it's been discussed before.

    TIA

some days is a bit off from that like today. they are so sleepy for some reason. i think it may be the rice we added to their formula for reflux...or they have been waking an hour early from their nap which throws the whole thing off.

We don't do set routines. I follow my babes cues for what they need. For the most part our day goes like this:

    8-9am ~ 5 oz bottle
Back to bed or snooze on the couch depending on the day.
    11:30-12 ~ 5 oz bottle
Awake and in bouncers while I fix lunch for my dd and I. At some point they fall asleep, if they do I leave them to sleep, if they don't I take them out of the bouncers after we eat.
    2:30-3 ~ 5 oz bottle
Awake for a bit again, then fall asleep generally a half hour before next feeding
    5-6 ~ 5 oz bottle
Fussy time! :D Awake/snooze off and on
    8-9 ~ 6 oz bottle
    Awake/snooze off and on
12am ~ 6 oz bottle Then into bed.
5am ~ 6 oz bottle Then back to bed.

At their 2 month appt Rylee was 10.15 lbs and Liam was 10.2 lbs. They just started sleeping that 5 hr stretch last week and even now sometimes they wake up at 3-4 hrs at night, the paci helps keep them calm until closer to 5 hrs :)

I think if your babies are happy, are eating good and starting to sleep thru the night then everything is fine :) I find following their cues is so much less stressful than trying to stick to a routine. The only ting I keep consistent is whatever one does, the other must do. Meaning eating mostly. When one gets hungry, even if it's too early, I feed them both.

Rylee sleeps more than Liam does now, he has a long stretch of awake time after lunch and before supper, usually up to 3 hrs awake. But Rylee has smaller snatches throughout the day. It's pretty much a given that if one is sleeping, the other one is awake most of the time! :p

That's a heck of a lot more organized than I am! :) My boys are 3 months tomorrow (6-1/2 wks adjusted) and our schedule looks more like this --

6:00 (to pick an arbitrary time) -- Sam complains - prep bottles (4-1/2oz for Sam, 5-1/2oz for Alex), diaper change, bottle, clothing change as Sam spits up
6:15 -- Alex complains - juggle Sam's bottle with Alex's and hope that Alex's diaper won't leak before I get to it
6:30 -- Wipe up Alex's spitup and decide he's not dirty enough to change, finish feeding
6:45 -- Go back to trying to burp Sam because he refused to do so earlier, wipe up Alex's spitup
7:00 -- Take both babies back to bed with me in the hopes of getting a nap.
7:45 -- Give up on the nap with gassy babies and get up, put on some clothes
8:00 -- Cart myself, babies, dirty bottles, cooler, etc downstairs for the day
8:15 -- Put babies down somewhere depending on how alert they are - blanket on floor for restless sleeping, bouncy chair or PnP napper for settled sleeping, play 'tunnel' for looking about time, swing if very fussy.
8:30 -- Sit down to pump, get up to wipe up spitup, sit down to pump, get up to turn Alex over who's fallen asleep on his tummy, sit down to pump - pump for 30 minutes
9:00 -- Someone is hungry and cycle starts again
    ... continue ...
-- sometime between feedings, do a load of laundry, run dishwasher --
Around 2pm -- realize I haven't eaten anything yet that day, grab cold pizza and orange
    ... continue ...
Around 5pm -- give up on a shower for the day
    ... continue ...
6pm -- DH gets home and cleans up messy house, we try to figure out something easy to eat
7pm -- Try to get babies settled so that DH and I can eat and watch a TV show together - takes several hours to get through a 1-hr show
After 9-10ish feeding, move everyone upstairs and try to get a few hours of sleep

    <Rinse, Repeat>

oh yeah, we do A LOT of talking...sometimes we will just talk and read books on the bed or floor all day. they aren't impressed much by the playmat because they can't reach the objects yet. they do tummy time on their boppys and sometimes will sit in their bumbos for a few minutes. oh and i'm trying to get them used to the jumperoo...ug!

i haven't showered in 3 days!!! thank god it's friday and dh is home!

I pretty much had the exact same schedule that you did, but mine were STTN by 8 weeks. I would recommend doing a dreamfeed at 10:00 and that might eliminate their middle of the night feed. Otherwise, your schedule looks great!

Ill give you what we generally do.. I kinda let the girls lead me. and they are STTN so that is a little different but I'll give you what we are doing..

7:30- They start to wake up and i get up and give them thier passies in effort to allow me to get a little bit more sleep.
8:00-8:15 - I get up offically and start making bottles, and feed 5oz.
8:30- Hold the girls or prop them up for 30 min after they eat. Then change diapers and get dressed out of pjammas
9:00- Depending on how sleepy they are either we do tummy time or they will sleep either on the boppys or in the bouncers til the next feed usually about 3 hours from when they finished.
"lather rinse repeat with the feed and tummy time/playtime" every 3 hours till about 7-8pm
7:30-8:00- They get 5oz bottles, I bathe 1 girl, and then take her and lotion her, put Pjammas on, and swaddle her, while DH bathes her sister, then we trade off babies, and i lotion, and diaper, jamma, and swaddle the other. Once they are calmed down from the torture that is the cold "lotion" and are sleepy but not asleep we lay them down to bed. Usually it ends up being around 9:30-10 when they are all done and in bed.

The only really set, set thing for a routine is the bedtime routine. During the day I try to be flexible just incase we have visitors or i need to run out and do errands. But they ususally sleep 3 good periods during the day after feeds..

we tried the whole dream feed thing a while ago but it didn't make any difference. plus, we don't have the heart to 'wake' them.

    Here's our basic routine
7:00-7:30 wake up and feed 4 oz bottle to Abriel and breast feed Sam
    Awake time/ playing swinging; whatever
10:00 Sam gets 4 oz bottle and Abriel gets breast fed; put down for morning nap
11:00 -12:00 wake up and play till feeding time
1:00 A gets bottle, S gets breast; put down for afternoon nap
    4:00 wake up/ feed/ A gets breast S gets bottle
    Awake time
6:20 change into PJs and get ready for bed
Then bottle feed A, and put her down, breast feed S and put him down
    11:30 -12:00 dream feed
3:30-5:00 One or both wake up/ both get breast: no fooling with bottles in the middle of the night. :)
    Repeat

I also didn't notice any difference in when they woke, after I started dream feeding them, but I've stuck with it in the hopes that some day it will. :unknw:

Ours varies a bit from day to day (especially now that they are starting to sleep through till 5 or 6 a.m. occasionally!) but it's been roughly the following since about 10 weeks:

8 a.m.: wake, change diapers and into day clothes, bottle
    8:30: play
    9 or 9:15: nap
    11:45-12ish: wake, change diapers, bottle
    12:30: play
    1:30 or 2: nap
    4: wake, change diapers, bottle
    4:30: play
They sometimes take a nap around 6; it varies. Sometimes they get really cranky and need it to get them through.
Then if it's bath night, we do a bath around 6:30 or 7, then either way we do the bedtime bottle around 7:30 and they are usually in bed by 8:30.
Then they usually wake sometime between 12:30 and 4 a.m. to eat, occasionally they last a bit longer and that pushes the whole schedule a bit (e.g. if they sleep through till 6:30, then bottles will be at 10:30, 2:30 and 6:30, or I might push the afternoon feedings closer together to still fit in 5 feedings that day).

What did you do when Izzy woke up? I have a similar situation in where Sam has been sleeping through the night for a little over a week, but Abriel has only done it a couple of times. Last night she woke up at at 3:30, and I fed her, then she woke up at 5. I let her cry for awhile, but it soon became apparent that she wasn't going to put herself back to sleep. I kept going in and giving her her paci, til she finally fell asleep at 6:15. I felt bad that I let her cry for so long without feeding her, but I know she couldn't have been that hungry; she goes through longer stretches during the day. This is the first time she has woken up more than once in over a month, so I feel like she's getting worse. But I really don't know what to do to get her to sleep more like her brother. They share a crib, and he didn't wake up even through all that screaming.

we gave her her paci, swaddled her tight, put her in her swing for a bit (then she became fussy again) so we rocked her until she fell asleep. i think it took an hour to get her back to sleep but from what i read on these forum that time should get shorter and shorter once she realized that she can't depend on the bottle to fall asleep. the girls are almost 4 months and i think it's ok to let them CIO for like five minutes (even though i can't stand to go for more than 1...it just breaks my heart too much to hear them cry about anything). tonight is a new night and i'm hoping it will go a bit more smooth. it's going to take a bit more patience and time but she will go back to sleep. oh and izzi definitely wakes up her sister when she screams so i remove her from the room asap. i have a station set up in the living room with everything i need so that's were we take her. i will let you know how things go tonight (i mean early morning). hopefully things will go smoother for you as well!
