Over the past week or two I've been giving the girls some whole milk to get them used to the taste, and I've also been giving them sippies with each meal. Over the past couple of days they've been doing so well with the sippies that we have dropped three of their four bottles! For some reason they won't drink all of their formula in a sippy with breakfast, so they still get a bottle after breakfast. But they drink 5-6 oz of formula with lunch and dinner, and get a juice/water sippy for a snack after their afternoon nap.

No more bottles here we come!

Just wanted to share - thanks for listening!

Wow, WTG!!!! I know I need to attempt some formula in the sippie pretty soon. Letting go of the bottle is going to be as hard on me as it will be on them!

What type of sippy did you use?

Needing to move forward on this project, I have been slow this time around to transition.

I introduced the sippy at 6 months. I went out and bought a bunch of different kinds. The girls seemed to like the NUBY with the soft spout, no handles. I think it was the most like a bottle to them. Now they prefer ones with handles, since they are easier for them to hold. They don't care any more whether the spout is soft or hard. I just bought some Gerber ones with a soft spout and handles at WalMart that they both like.

Just a side note - they don't always hold the sippy themselves, but they will drink when I hold it for them.

Lucky you. With my oldest we were able to start whole milk at 9 months, she was full term, but with these guys they want us to stay on formula until 1 year since they were preemies. I was a bit slow introducing the sippie so they are just now getting the hang of it. I am hoping to start dropping a bottle or two in the next few weeks sicne we are working toward age 1. That is great that your girls have already done that!!!!
