Where is your playroom in regards to your main living space? Where do you play more the playroom or main living space? We mostly are downstairs and have a loft upstairs that we use as a playroom. I am went to Ikea and am totally organizing the sh*t, oh I mean toys. I am moving a lot of the toys upstairs. Am I going to regret it? I am hoping they will play up there more now that the twins have learned the stairs. Plus there is no TV up there. What do you guys think?

Go for it! We have moved all the over 3 toys into DD1's closet, which was bigger than my office, and she likes playing up there. And we can just close the door. Eventually, most of the toys will end up there. She likes it a lot better with an old CD player was have in there so she can have some music. Once the twins stop putting everything in their mouths, they'll all be playing there more.

Right now we are mostly in the main living space, and I have to step over so many things sometimes I want to scream.

We don't have a playroom, but the majority of their toys are in their bedrooms. And they just take it all out here into the living area. Oh well. At least I don't have to look at all their stuff at night, when it is all put away!!!

The girls play with their over 3 toys either in their room or in our basement (when their brother isn't down there with them). We did play a lot in our living room but now that my son can do stairs and I can trust him more with not putting small toys in his mouth (he likes putting big toys in his mouth) we play downstairs more. So most toys are in our basement and that's where they all play. If you want to move them up there then go for it. If you decide you don't like it you can move everything back (which I know would be a hassle but hopefully it will work out with everything being up there).

J&L play with most of their stuff in the family "playroom" and their bedroom. I just organized all the toys in buckets and labels in all the buckets on shelves. I put the toys that they cna play wiith an adult high up. I needed to do something it was getting CRAZY!!!!

Our playroom is on the other side of the kitchen from the main living area. We converted the dining room first into an office, putting up a wall so the only entrance is through the kitchen and now it's the playroom. We spend most of our time in the playroom & in the bedrooms (one story house) since the front door opens pretty much straight into the main living area, I got sick of having the mess out for the world to see.

In our case, the kids don't mind sticking to those rooms, there are no toys in our living area so they only want to be in there if DH & I are in there.

The girls' playroom is across the hall from their bedroom. They might play in either room, or they might choose some toys and bring them into the den. They do not have a TV in their bedroom or in their playroom. I am not anti-TV, but I don't want them to have that kind of access to a TV yet.

Our play room is in our basement and our living room is one floor up. we spend the morning and most of the afternoon in the livingroom and there bed room so i can do things like folding laundry and dishes while they are very close by. after the second nap is when we head down stairs for the playroom. that way they get different rooms thru out the day. i have many toys in the living room still, even there play kitchen. but having a different place in the afternoon has kept there afternoon meltdowns to a minimum. Just to cold to play outside right now. I can't wait till spring!!!

No TV in the playroom, once they figured out how to turn the tv on i have a hard time keeping if off, so i love having areas with no tv

That is our situation here. The playroom is upstairs but not a full playroom. It is our master bedroom but we moved downstairs in nov. Its a huge room with a bathroom, still has our bed and dresser and 2 chest of drawers but mainly toys. We rarely go up there. We have 2 totes of toys in the livingroom and they're content with those. Joshie plays with cars 99% of the time and Katie really just drags toys out and doesnt play with them. Our playroom mainly just decluttered our downstairs for us.

We finally finished our basement into a HUGE playroom. Most of the toys are down there. We do need to find some sort of storage though so the boys dont get dd's stuff. They do have a small basket in their room and the LR with some books/toys etc. And some go back and forth up/down stairs. B)

Our playroom is our dining room. It is on the main level right off the kitchen. They play in there and the familyroom.

Just before Christmas we made our upstairs loft area into a playroom. I love it. Before we had the playroom, all the kids toys were in the family room in our main living area and it always looked like a toy store had exploded in there. In the playroom I have several shelves and lots of bins and baskets. I'm still working on labeling so it is easier for the kids to put things away. It took a little while for the kids to adjust to going upstairs but now I think they like it, too. I do have a few toys in the family room still -- mostly things like puzzles and games or more quiet activites. There isn't a TV in the play room and I think that is good. I'm not anti-TV but think the kids get enough as it is. I do wish I had a boom box/radio in the playroom for music so will probably get something. The one thing I was really glad I had done was to move a small couch to the play room. DH was wondering if it was a good idea ("Do you really think you'll sit up there?"). The couch was a pain to move but I sit up by the kids all the time while they are playing and read or do things on my laptop.

Our house is a split-foyer ranch. The downstairs (basement level) is the family room and a playroom. The toys extend throughout both rooms. In the future, we will probably move most of the toys into just the playroom when they have less toys (like maybe 5-6 yrs old). Upstairs in the living room, we have a few toys that drifted, and their crayons and coloring books. They used to spend almost no time in that room, but now they are better about leaving stuff alone.

Their playroom is in our finished basement (daylight). Most toys are down there, but we do keep their kitchen and dishes and a few other things in the living room on the main floor. All they have in their bedroom are books, but their bedroom is on the second floor.

Yah, I don't want a TV up there. We have a CD player and so I am starting to burn some music. Thanks for the idea of a sitting area for me. We use to have a huge couch up there when it was a sitting area but we got rid of it because it took up too much space. I need to get the glider out of the twins room si I think I will try it out in there. Thanks for the suggestion.
