I am having a terrible time with scheduling. Can some of you please post your 8 or 9 month old DC's schedule. Including times when formula or breastmilk are given and how much they eat each time if on a bottle, solid feeding times and how much solids they are eating, do you offer finger foods, nap times (how long?), bed times, and when you find time to run errands.

Also, would you expect an 8 month old who weighs 12 lbs. 8 ozs. to sleep from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. without being fed?

I really appreciate any help you can give me. My ped. wants the babies on 3 solid meals a day by 9 months and there are days I can't seem to find time for solids period. I know formula or breastmilk to #1 until a year...but with 3 solid meals as well it seems like a ton of food for my two...they are both pretty small.
    Anyway...sorry to ramble.

    Thansk for the help.

Did your pedi give a reason why your babies need three solid meals a day at nine months? If one of yours is on the small side I would think you'd want to delay solids since formula/breastmilk has more calories and nutrition than solid food.

Our schedule at 8-9 months was:

6am wake up and 7 oz bottle
    7:30 - 8:30 nap
    10am 7 oz bottle
    11:30 - 12:30 nap
    1pm solid food (vegetables/fruit)
    2 pm 7 oz bottle
    2:30 - 3:15 nap
5pm solid food (cereal or vegetables/fruit)
    5:30pm 7 oz bottle
    6:00 bed

I was able to get out of the house after the 10am bottle before the 11:30 nap or after the third nap ended (and sometimes we'd skip the solid food if we had major errands to run). Since solids are just for practice, I figured it wasn't any big deal if they only practiced once a day on days we were really busy.

    Good luck!

Just in teh last 2 weeks they are awake more and we are working on the new schedule but this is kinda it.

    7 wake-nurse
8-solids (unitl last week this was nursing at 9)
    10-11:30 nap
    11:30 nurse
    12:30 solids
    2:30-3:30 nap
    3:30 nurse
    5:00 solids
    7:00 nurse, bed

they sleep 12 hours. My DS is 16 1/2 and my DD is 18 lbs.
my DS eat 8 oz most meals (but not breakfast only 4 ) My DD eats more table food and only a couple oz of spoon fed. I am sometimes still skipping the morning solids. I offer tons of finger food, they seem to like these better and esp my DD eats them better. Until 2 weeks ago they took 2 naps at 2 hours each and would only be awake 2 hours inbetween but now we are changing,so we will see.

My girls are 14 pounds 11 ounces at almost 9 months ... so, pretty small too. Here is their schedule (give or take 30 minutes in either direction):

    7 wake and nurse
8 3 TBSP oatmeal mixed with 1.5 oz. EBM, share a Stage 2 fruit
    9-10 nap
    11 nurse
12 share a Stage 2 veggie mixed with 1 TBSP rice creal, share Stage 2 fruit
    1 nap
    3:30 nurse
4:30 share a Stage 2 veggie mixed with 1 TBSP rice cereal, each have their own YoBaby
6 sometimes nurse and sometimes refuse
6:30 or 7 bedtime (depending on naps)

sometimes they really dig the 1-1:45 nap so on those days I throw in another cat-nap between nursing and dinner.

I, too, thought it was early to do 3 meals when my Ped told me to ... they do great with it though. They don't nurse as much, but I am finding out (from talking with others) that is it totally normal to decrease the amount of milk with the addition of more solids. I like giving them YoBaby once a day b/c at least that way they are getting some Calcium and protein even if they won't nurse before bed.

One of mine typically STTN and the other sometimes wakes once to nurse. I feed her once since she doesn't nurse well during the day (DISTRACTED!!!) I don't know what point I will decide that she doesn't need it. I am really OK with getting up with her once at this point ... they are still 5% babies, too ... so I feel like she needs it. I guess I just use my judgement for this ... if she was nursing well during the day and only weak suckling (as in suck, suck, suck ... fall asleep) or not wanting to nurse but wanting to play instead ... I would push her to STTN.

    Anyway, good luck!

Well, my kids schedule goes like this: (and they both weigh over 20 lbs, I believe)

    8:15 am bottle

    9:00 am solids (fruit/yogurt/oatmeal)

    10:45 am-12:45 pm nap

    12:45 pm solids (veggie/fruit)

    2:30 pm bottle

    3:00-4:30 pm nap

    5:30/6:00 solids (meat dinner/veggies)

    7:30 pm bottle and bed

All of their bottles are filled to 10 ounces. They tend to drink varying amounts, so I just make sure they have enough to drink 30 ounces in a day if they want it. They never do, they drink closer to 24 ounces a day total. Some days a bit less. But they are wild about food instead of formula.

I give them finger foods with every meal. Breakfast tends to be cheerios. Sometimes it is waffles instead. Lunch I often give them fruit that they can pick up and eat...today was sliced mango. Dinner I like to give them bits of our dinner (stuff that is okay for them to eat). For instance, last week I made a pot roast in the crock pot. I took the cooked carrots and mashed potatoes and put them on the beebs' trays for them to eat with their fingers. Other times it is just bread cut up into pieces. Tonight it was cooked zucchini. They love anything they can eat themselves. I also got stuff called Veggie Booty at the store...it is not baby food but is puffed corn flavored with kale and broccoli and stuff and it dissolves well in their mouths. They like that.

I was wondering about this as well. Formula is still a more complete food source then solids at this age. My first daughter was also pretty small. She was barely 15 lbs at a year. She went from breast milk at a year to pedisure to see if it would bulk her up. It still didn't (just squeezed in at 19 lbs even at age 2), but her pedi never pushed more food as a way to help her grow.

The only schedule I have with mine are nap times. They nap at 10-11a, 2-3p and a sometimes a catnap at 6p. Bedtime is 9-10p and they sleep until 8-9a. I started overing solids at Easter. But they really do not like baby food. So, I give them some of what we are having for lunch or supper just mashed up real good. I give bottles when they appear hungry throughout the day.

OK, my little munchkins are almost 8 months, and this is our typical day:

Son gets up EARLY...around 6a. Gets 8 ozs
(he plays till about 730a and goes back down for catnap)
Daughter gets up around 8a and gets 8 ozs
    Play 8-915a
    2 T. oatmeal plus 4 ozs fruit each 915a
    Nap 10-11a
    Play 11-1230p
    Eat 8 ozs 1230p
    Nap 1-3p ish
    Play 3-4p
    Eat 2 veggies, 1 fruit each 415p
Play 430-7p (usually a 15-20 min catnap at some point)
    7p - Bath, 8 ozs and BED.

    YAY.

Our days go something like this (when NOT at daycare)...

    5-6am wake up

    6:30am Bottle 5-8oz

8:15-8:30am Breakfast --- Split 2 tbsp oatmeal & Stage 2 fruit, Puffs/cheerios, sippy with water

8:30-9:00am Nap, varies from 45 mins to a little over an hour

    10:30am Bottle 4-7 oz

12:15-12:30pm Lunch --- Split Stage 2 veggie & Stage 2 fruit, puffs/cheerios/graham crackers, sippy with water

12:30-1pm Nap, varies from 45 mins to 2 hrs

    3:30pm Bottle 6-8 oz

4:15-4:30pm Dinner --- Split Stage 2 Dinner (ie Mac N Cheese, Veg Turkey Rice, etc) with some rice cereal mixed in, occasionally another 1/2 Stage 2 dessert (ie Hawaiian Delight, Custard w/Banana, etc), puffs/cheerios/graham crackers/biter biscuits, sippy with water

5pm Start bedtime routine --- baths every other day, brush teeth, books, snuggle time

    6-6:15pm Bottle 4-8 oz

    6:15-6:45pm Bedtime

Mine are really varying their bottle intake, although I wonder if it's not from their top teeth coming in. They're also SOOOO distracted with bottle feeding lately...annoying!!!! I always offer 8 oz, though. They've been seeming to want MORE babyfood, but I've been trying to restrict it a bit to get more formula down them (even though my Ped isn't concerned). We've also been doing more table food.....cut up fruits & veggies & mushed up/cut up whatever I'm eating.

Naptimes also vary. If one is short, usually the other is longer. If they're both short, I usually try to sneak a cat nap in between their 3:30pm bottle & dinner (usually pushing dinner a little later).

Both STTN (we're just working on getting Aiden to sleep past 5am!).

I run errands between their 10:30am bottle & lunch or between their 3:30pm bottle & dinner.

It is challenging fitting it all in some days. There are days we miss dinner (if they really needed that last nap). My guys are big boys (20-22 lbs), so I've never had to worry about that. Being that I have small windows to get out, I always try to make sure I get EVERYTHING ready while they're sleeping so we can just do our bottle, change diapers, & go! My DS Aiden can hold his own bottle, so sometimes he'll take a bottle while we're out shopping, but Conner seems to protest & want to look around too much! I always have finger foods on hand to keep them occupied while we're out too!

Our ped also wanted them to have 3 meals by 9 months, but I didn't start till 9 months and a day. Lunch was the last meal we added, and I still consider it "for fun" - it's almost always entirely finger foods and I don't stress about how much gets in their mouths.

3:00am-ish, one or both might wake to nurse (Tom slept through for the first time ever last night! Woo hoo.)
6:30 - 7:00 - Wake and nurse (this is their best nursing time)
7:45 - Cereal made with breastmilk, fruit and toast - about half a cup of cooked cereal, 2 oz fruit, half a piece of wheat toast.
9:00 - 9:30 Nap for about an hour
10:30 - Nurse, dress for the day, may do a quick errand in this window and push lunch later
12:00 Lunch, fingerfoods - starch, fruit, veggie, protein (they're allergic to dairy, so soy cheese or yogurt or bits of chicken or egg yolk). I offer a couple of Tb of each.
    1:00 Nurse
1:30 Nap for about an hour and a half
3:00 Nurse sometime between waking up and 4:00, depending on what else needs to get done in here. This is prime time for errands.
5:00 Dinner - An oz each of turkey or lamb, couple ounces of veggie, couple ounces of fruit either cut up or pureed. SOMETHING has to be finger food or things get ugly.
6:15 bath, nurse, bed by 7:00

My ped wanted 3 meals at 7 months, but that didn't happen. He loves it now & would probably like 5 meals a day if I could. His milk did go down a bit, but the Dr said as long as he was drinking 12 oz a day that was fine. We started with b-fast because I always wanted to watch for a bad reaction to the food. Dinner came next to help him sleep & lunch was last. Lunch is not his favorite & easts the least for it.

    B-fast - Oatmeal & stage 2 fruit with a tub of pudding.
Lunch - Half stage 2 fruit & half stage 2 vegetable with pudding.
Dinner - stage 2 meat & veg plus stage 2 fruit & pudding.

We do puffs for finger foods & have given him some other things to try. This is where I need to work. He needs to eat more real food now.

He was 18.8 lbs at his 9 month WBV.
