THOSE RUDE COMMENTS

<_< All of us who have twins know the rude and interesting <_< comments you get from people. I haave 9 month old fraternal twin grand-daughters. My daughter is Scotch-Irish/German and my sil is Greek/African-American. Obviously that allows for some unique gene combinations. Twin A is olive-skinned, with brown hair and full lips and blue eyes while her sister is porcelan skinned, strawberry blonde with little bowtie lips and blue eyes. Recently I was shopping in one of the major discount chains and was purchasing clothes for the grandbabies. I was at the checkout and chitchatting with the clerk. She said something regarding the baby clothes and I said I was buying them for my twin granddaughters. She said something like " Oh how nice. Two identical girls." I said Oh no, most definitely fraternal and went on to explain their heritage and physical traits. To which clerk replies" I bet your granddaughters dont even have the same father" <_< :angry: <_<
After picking my jaw up off the ground I said "excuse me and she repeated herself adding when twins dont look alike they often arent twins but babies conceived by different fathers. Ok I am no old fuddy duddy and yes it is conceivable (pun) and a possibility but WTH- you say that to someone you dont know from Adam; a stranger you are waiting on. It's like I dont think so. If you saw them and their parents one of them looks just like her dad and the other just like her mom. Must say I was practically speechless.

Thems fightin' words.... :aggressive: I would have been ticked if someone insinuated my dd was sleeping around because her twins were not ID.

That would have been her last day on the job....I would have had her fired! that would have taught her to keep her stupid opinions to herself.

I agree with all of these replies. I have no idea why, but I was shocked. It never ceases to amaze me how crass some people can be.

I bet your granddaughters are BEAUTIFUL!! :hug99: Maybe you can share a picture with us sometime.

 

Whoa! I agree - totally rude. And I think that IS the worst twin comment I have ever heard of! Sorry you had to deal with that!

 

Yeah, I was too shocked to report her to management.

Would love to share a pic with everyone cux of course grammie thinks they are the 2 cutest girls ever but I am somewhat computer illiterate and cant figure out how to do that. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fortunately my daughter has a good sense of humor. I called her when it happened ( course my grandbabies would live on teh opposit coast). After she said"the clerk said WHAT!?!?!", she kinda chuckled aand said"Oops, my secret is out." My son in law got a good laugh out of it too.

And yes people are just plain STUPID and forget to engage brain befoe opening mouth.

WOW! :icon_eek: I too would have been too shocked to say anything then, but I would have probably called the store manager after I got home and let them know. That is the most rude, insensitive twin comment I have heard!

People are dumb. Period. Someone said a very classless comment to my classmate regarding her marriage and she said, "And do you think that was an appropriate thing to say to me?" A few of us were standing there when she said it and the offender just stood there with mouth agape and turned beet red! Sometimes, people seriously don't know what they're about to sound like!

So sorry that happened.....your g'kids sounds beautiful!

 

She sounds like a miserable b!tch who gets off making other miserable to make herself feel better. Karma will get her back though and it won't be pretty.

 

I would have not been able to keep my mouth shut!! I def. would have let her have it!
