I had a growth ultrasound this morning. I am 29 weeks and 2 days. Baby girl was estimated to be about 3 lbs 3 oz and Baby boy was estimated to be about 3 lbs 10 oz. It made me laugh because my first son weighed 6 lbs 13 oz at birth (40 weeks) so I'm essentially carrying a full-term baby in there with the two of them combined.

I'm glad they are growing well, but they are also both breech. Baby girl is Baby A and she has been persistently breech (baby boy flips around a bit, but he's higher up so his position isn't the critical one).

I'm not even sure if there is anything I can do to get them to flip. I just hope they do!

Had my 20wk scan today. All looks good and the babies are measuring within three days of each other and my EDD. The u/s tech was cranky and old-school (he was like seventy years old) and thought we were silly to want to know the genders, but he gave a 95% guess at baby B being a boy and a 85% guess at baby A being a girl. He would not tell me their position, so I guess I'll have nothing to compare when I have my next u/s at 33wks (provided things are still going fine at my regular OB appointments).

I also met my OB for the first time. Seems like a great guy and has twins himself. Maybe it's just being in a different country, or maybe it's the practice I've chosen, but these folks are really chill about the whole twin thing. I expected to be fussed over more (not that I wanted it, I just thought I was automatically considered "high-risk"), but the u/s was thirty minutes, in and out, and the OB part was ten. I think it also helps, though, that this is not my first pregnancy and that I get so many of my questions answered online that I don't need to ask the doctor. Wonder if that drives them crazy... nerdgirl: I feel a little like you do - twins is not really treated as a big deal at the medical center (in the US) where I'm getting my care. But the OBs and midwives are always nice and willing to see or talk to me if I am concerned about something. I am kind of surprised that you do not have another ultrasound until 33 weeks even if everything is going fine, but I would be reassured if my OB had twins him/herself!

Nerdgirl: I'm laughing at your cranky ultrasound tech not wanting to spill the gender beans. Perhaps it's not as big a deal where you are now compared to the US? :)

My new practice has also been fairly laid back about me having twins and my appointments are still 4 weeks apart (next one at 32 weeks) whereas my old practice wanted appointments every 2 weeks starting at 28 weeks. Other than the more frequent ultrasounds (ultrasound and NST every 3 weeks starting at 32 weeks), they've been very laid back and have been very encouraging with me about me hoping to have a vaginal birth (but Baby A needs to turn first!).
