I have my first growth scan on Christmas Eve. I'm beginning to get a little nervous--should I expect anything different from a regular u/s?

My tech didn't even call it a growth scan so I didn't know any different until I saw the term on here and figured out that's what they were doing, lol. I like growth scans! :) Basically they just measure each baby's head circumference, abdominal circumference, and femur length (maybe a few other things but that's all I'm aware of), plus the regular u/s stuff like heartbeats, checking fluid level and placentas, etc.

Oh, and my 36w appointment is tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks! I figured it was probably something like that but wasn't completely sure.

I had an OB appointment today and he did a quick ultrasound to let this mommas mind and heart be at ease knowing all was well. Babies are doing great and as far we can tell they are mono/di but will know further once we get our appointment with the peri next month. I am now ready for Christmas :p

My daughter has her OB appointment today, in fact she's there right now. She is 35 weeks tomorrow and they are doing a bio and hopefully calculating what the babies weigh. She went in last Monday with contractions that they stopped with trib. and she's been doing very well this last week. I'm anxious to see what the babies estimated weights are. I'll post as soon as I hear from her.

Went to the peri and OB today. Peri was a quick cervix check and baby check. Both cervix and babies are doing great. OB appointment was good, started to discuss possible c-section date as well as stopping work date. Obviously nothing is written in stone. However I gained 9 lbs in 4 weeks! It was my biggest jump yet, which brings my grand baby weight total to 17 lbs in 23 weeks. He was concerned about the big weight gain but not making too big a deal out of it. Oh well...at least my girls are doing great!

I had and appoint ment today with my ob for a bp check...I was at the hospital last wednesday night with what I thought was just a bad headache... turned out I was dehydrated and my bp was 189/93. So my doc wanted to see me today. When I 1st got there it was 142/8? (sorry forgot the last number ) They had me lay on my left side for about 10 mins and it came down a bit 137/77. Then gave me a kit to do a 24 hour urine :( . So I'm going to drag it to work with me tonight and hope that the security officers ask me what it is so that I can explain

I also have an appt with MFM tomorrow at 9:20.

Will let you know how both go

I had to do the 24hr urine with DS. The thing they didn't tell me was what to do with the extra urine that didn't fit in the container they gave me, but was enough to fill up a gallon water jug  I didn't know what to do with the rest of it so I figured a water jug would be appropriate enough. It was :)

Whew, I wish it were first thing in the morning but at least I will have the afternoon to rest tomorrow.

Amber had her biophysical ultrasound and she said the dr said she made 8 out of 8. I'm not really sure what that means, I think it means things like the babies were kicking and trying to breathe, and stuff like that. If anyone could fill me in on that I would appreciate it. She also went for her NST, and babies were both great. The nurse said she was having some contractions, but that wasn't unusual with twins, and thought it could be irritible uterus mostly. The doctor also manually checked Amber and said Baby A was at a plus 1 stage. I was thinking that there are 6 stages.......-3, -2, -1, 0, +1, +2, and +3 is birth????......is that right? Any help for a confused Nana would be appreciated. Anyway.....Amber is at 35 weeks today! Yay!

I will have quick u/s today at OB office to make sure both twins are good.

I had my OB appointment yesterday. OB asked me how I feel and I told him that I got sick and it's already 4 days with running nose and watering eyes. he took it very serious. and took the saw to check for strep ( sp???)
and after he look at me and asked:
"are you just came because you are sick?"
I was smilling from ear to ear and reply
"No I came to have the u/s to make sure both babies are fine"
and I got it. Baby A tried to hide from the probe at least he was jumping around. and hs sac was big and visible. Baby B was clapping his hands ( that was so cute) but the sac was very small and I asked about that. he just said that Baby B is under Baby A and that why we just don't see everything ( and believe me his machine is not the perfect at all. we saw the hb but again didn't hear it. ( machine wouldn't pick up it too earlier)
I will have my NT scan on 01/05 and there I will see both of my babies on the good u/s machine.

What a BPP score of 8 means exactly (from my nursing textbook) this:

Fetal breathing movements: >1 episode of rhythmic breathing lasting >30 sec w/in 30 min
Gross body movements: >3 discrete body or limb movements in 30 min (episodes of active continuous movement considered as single movement)
Fetal tone: >1 episode of extension of a fetal extremity with return to flexion, or opening or closing of hand
Amniotic fluid volume: Single vertical pocket >2cm
Nonstress test (NST): >2 accelerations of >15 beats sec in 20 min

The highest score is actually 10, but scores of 8 and 10 are both considered normal and are the scores that you want. A score of 8 or 10 has the least chance of being associated with a compromised fetus.

As for the stations, plus 1 means that the presenting part of a baby is 1 cm past a defining part (ischial spines) of the pelvis. A "plus" rather than a "minus" station is a good sign for someone who is in labor bc it means that baby is progressing through the birth canal. The stations begin at -5 and end at +4 (PUSH! )

I'm glad her appt went well.

I had a slightly elvevated blood presure and some small contractions. My cervix has shrunk slightly so the dr thought he would do steriod shots and hospital bed rest due to my history and risk of PTL.

Havn't gotten the results from the 24 hr urine...but I don't feel as if I gave them that much...idk...I'm a little nervous about that die to the fact that my family has a history of kidney trouble...

The other appointment...I think that went good, my daughter went with me and got a little bored after she seen the babies...but baby B was a little more active today than baby A, both had "hardly no fat" around their necks and they both measured about 2 inches...I go back on the 22nd of January to see how they've grown and will find out what they are then....

oh and they are in seprate sacs...baby A's placenta is posterior and baby B's is anterior

Had my 32 week appt today. I had an NST which both girls passed with flying colors once they stayed still long enough to monitor. LOL I have very active girls. I also had my first betamethasone shot today and get the other one tomorrow. We passed everything today and are ok to go on Monday. 6 days to go....wow! It's pretty exciting. No more prenatal appts for me. Next time I go to the doctor will be to have my girls!

the fetal growth scan went well, baby a is 5lbs 5 oz and baby b is 5 lbs. the check up the next day went fine as well, had another ultrasound for heartbeats, and had my cervix checked. also for some strange reason i keep losing weight... the babies are gaining but i keep losing 3 lbs every time i go in for the past three weeks. has that happened to anyone else?
