This New Sleeping Arrangement Is Working Well!

Just thought I would share in case anyway was considering this.

A few weeks ago, DH and I bought a new bed and moved our old queen sized bed into the girls' room because we are expecting out of town guests this weekend. Well, turns out the girls LOVE sleeping in the same bed and have stopped the usually fighting at bed time. It works out well for a few reasons:

We can all lay in the same bed when reading stories and they sometimes just fall asleep during story time.

They seem to sleep longer now- maybe the comfort of sleeping in the same bed with someone?

If one of them does wake up in the middle of the night and needs a back rub or some comfort to fall back asleep, I can easily lay next to them and pat their backs or rub their heads (and sometimes fall asleep myself!) without it being a big deal.

Waking in the middle of the night has become a rarity too. I used to be up with at least one of them every night but now it is more like once or twice a week.

We still have their toddler beds set up but for now I think we are going to keep them in the big bed where they are happy!

    Just thought I would share.

I wish this was an option at my house but with b/g twins dh would have a fit. I think E&E would enjoy it.

IMHO, I'd let my b/g twins sleep in a queen for a few years.

My boys share a bed (a twin actually) and they love it! They finally stopped getting up to come to my bed at night. On the random night they do get up, i pull them into our bed and within a few minutes they are ready to go back to their brother! Glad it's working out for you guys!

That's great that you have found something that makes the night better for you and them!! I hope it continues!

My b/g twins are still in the same crib at 18 mos. I get funny looks when people hear about it, but they do not sleep well (or at all) apart at this point. I think we will have 2 beds when they move from the crib, but if they prefer to sleep together for the next few years, we won't stop it.

That's great that it works out!

I don't have b/g twins, but I wouldn't have a problem letting them sleep together for a few years at least -- seems pretty harmless...?

The company that is coming are their cousins whom they adore. They have had sleepovers with them and have been great. So, all of the cousins are sleeping on airmattresses in our finished basement and the girls will sleep in the toddler beds down there with them. Their toddler beds are really light and easy to transport. My BIL and his wife will sleep in the girls "new" bed. If that doesn't work we can always let the girls sleep with us a few nights. Our new bed is kingsize and we all fit pretty well!

That's great that the arrangement is working out so well!

My girls are 20 months and still sleep in the same crib (except for naps). When we come back from my parents' house after Easter, we're going to bring back the SuperYard and set it up around a queen size mattress on the floor in their room and transition them to that. We've tried separating them at night and it just does not work for them! I think we're going to skip toddler beds altogether and just put the mattress up on the boxspring and frame once they're old enough.

That is so sweet! I hope someday my girls will want to be back together. They cobedded from the NICU until around 7 months when they started flailing and kicking too much.

Those of you with younger toddlers (under 2) who sleep in one crib - how do they manage not to hurt/bother each other? We sometimes end up with both of ours in our bed together and I have to lie between them to stop them from accidentally poking each others' eyes out!

I am so glad to hear that there are other 18 month plus twins sharing the same crib. Jenner and Cody still share and they very rarely have any issues with one stepping on or rolling over the other. (Sadly though, they are still in our room with us since we don't have more bedrooms. Hopefully this fall....)

I also love it because when we put them down at night, they will usually chat and play until they fall asleep. (rather than crying and screaming)
