She carried her twin daughters to just five days before her due date. The babies were born this week in Mobile, AL. The first little girl was delivered and weighed a whopping 8 pounds 6 ounces. The medical staff just knew this was the biggest of the twins but 7 minutes later when the second little lady was born she weighed in at 8 pounds 11 ounces for a total of 17 pounds 1 ounce of twin girls. These are the largest twins to be born in our area. The mother delivered the girls vaginally. She's one tough mommy.

Wow! She must have been in agony before delivery.

The only story I've heard that beats that is of a woman who had triplets, each of them weighing 6 lbs or MORE.

Holy Cow!! Mine are estimated at 6 1/2 and 7 (and I know they are probably a little less in actuality) and I'm in misery, I can't even imagine going 3 more weeks!

    Kudos to her!

Wow way to go momma! My OB office always had bulletin board full of birth announcements in all the rooms, one was for a women w/ twins, she went 39 weeks and her babies were both past the 8# mark, I always stared at it in hope and wonder!

Congrats! I am so glad to hear that it is possible to have twins that big. As crazy as it may sound I'm hoping my twin boys that are due Jan. 13 are big boys. At least 8lbs a piece. My son who just turned a year old weighed 9lbs 15.2oz at birh. Just happy to know it's possible, and congrats again.

My sister carried 16 lbs of twins. Her's were 8.6 and 7.10 born at 36weeks! Can you imagine if she went longer? Her last baby before them was 10.13. I don't remember what the other two were, but they were good sized, too. She just grows them big. Mine were only 14bs combined but I have a feeling I share a lot of my sister's "big baby" genes. I guess we'll find out come January.

Amazing! I have had large babies - my first 9lbs. 1oz, second 12lbs. 1oz, both vaginally and my twins via unplanned c-section 7lbs. 11 oz., 7lbs. 7oz.. But over 8lbs each WOW, how did she walk at the end. God Bless!

I remember chit chatting with an older woman at my church when I was pg with my twins. She knew my first dd was 8lbs 1oz...and I had just told her that I was at least pretty sure my twins would be smaller than that...anyway, she worked as a nurse for an ob/gyn and told me about the time one of them women delivered both twins over 8lbs each...what a comfort to me! LOL!!... But mine still wound up under 6lbs each.... which seemed absolutely soooo tiny compared to 8lbs!!

Wow, you had some big babies too! Great job! Just being curious, why was it an unplanned c-section? I delivered our dd vaginally and had an emergency c with our son.

OMG. I am in pain just thinking about it....I only had about 10 pounds of babies at the end, and even that was miserable....

She is one amazing twin mama!

Failure to dialate past 7. I was stuck on 7 for 8 long hours. The babies heart rates were up in the 200's so a c-section. My doctor thought either Keegan's head was turned or they were holding each other up. I was a little surprised and disappointed after an easy delivery of my 12lber. The important thing is that they were and are very healthy.
