I need to vent.. and I need to know that some of these things are totally normal in order to keep myself from freaking out about every little thing.. who better to talk with then those of you that are going through some of the same things.

I noticed that once I hit 28 weeks.. it was a downward slide.. what I didn't realize was how steep <_<

I ache everywhere.. and I know this part is normal.. my back hurts, my stomach hurts, my legs, feet, knees, waist.. ugh.. it just all hurts. Some of the things that I was not expecting.. Swelling.. holy moly.. It just started after a trip to L&D last wednesday and its just gotten worse and worse. My bp is going up but its not to high I don't think 129/80.. my normal is 117/69. But if I am up for more then an hour my feet swell like balloons. When I am laying down (to ease the swelling) I get this weird feeling like someone put bricks on my chest and I can't get a decent breath and my heart rate increases.. it only lasts a few minutes then it goes away only to repeat itself later.. is this babies or something I should worry about? Icky discharge? I know its normal to have it in pregnancy but this is bad.. I keep thinking I am leaking fluid but when I check its way to *thick* to be amniotic fluid.. The indigestion has been horrid. I sometimes feel as if I will puke stomach acid. I have noticed a difference when I started taking pecid complete instead of tums but they taste so bad that I have to gag them down. I got a stomach bug last week (the reason I was at L&D) and it seems that I haven't fully recovered from it. I am not hungry much for anything and when I do eat I can only get 3-4 bites in before I start feeling sick again. Do you think the nausea is from the pregnancy and not the virus? And what do you do about drinking your protein shakes when you feel this way?

So thats my list of complaints of the third trimester.. if anyone is feeling the same things, has found ways to ease any of these.. or just wants to add some of their discomforts/complaints to the list I would be so glad to hear that I am not alone at this point.

I feel for you. I am getting a bit uncomfortable myself lately. Just trying to take it day by day. Walking has become a chore though. LOL

Hang in there. I am interested in seeing some of the responses too.

I keep telling people twin pregnancy is most definitely harder than a singleton one. Even lying in the hospital bed, it is hard work physically for me. And that means mentally too because when you feel uncomfy all the time, it's discouraging.

My body aches are in my pelvic and back regions. It's pretty bad some days. Luckily I'm not swelling, nauseous or having discharge. But after I eat and try to lay back down on bedrest, I sometimes get that suffocating feeling.

I am given Pepcid (not the chewable kind) 2X daily to prevent the acid indigestion. At 10 am and 10 pm. After a couple of days sticking to this regimen, I only occasionally will chew a tums. Otherwise, the indigestion isn't there anymore.

I'm lucky if I can drink 1 or 2 of the shakes daily now. I do not force myself. . . Even though I only eat about 1/4 to 1/2 of my meals at each sitting, I have gained weight. . . 2 # in last two weeks. Sometimes, I skip a meal. The nurses say this is normal. I drink lots though too. Which constantly sends me to the bathroom. Another complaint.

My contrax, tho 'painless', have been increasing in frequency, intensity and duration. I'm trying to get to 34, and anything after that is just icing. My uterus is so stretched, the nurses don't think I will make it much farther. My belly itches!

I think you're normal and not alone. . . hang in there.

Mel- I am only 21 weeks and I already am starting to feel the same way. Increased pelvic pressure and back pain has already had me in L&D once. I am starting to swell and whenever I recline in the least bit it feels as though I cannot breathe! Sometimes getting up and walkig around the house leaves me winded. I can see that it will only get worse before it gets better! I also have the Arizona summer to look forward to. It was over 100 degrees here yesterday B)

Ugh, Mel, I am sorry things have gotten so rough for you! I have been lucky that I haven't had much too complain about, but it is getting to the point where I keep warning my DH that an increase in my complaining is "coming." The biggest discomfort I have right now is the babies' movement...the alien movements are getting painful! I find myself moaning a bit in the evening as my uterus is so tired from the pushing and kicking.

On my last day of work (last Friday), my ankles swelled up to the point of being pretty painful! That was my sign that it was good that I was stopping work...it was taking a toll on my body.

Hang in there, get healthy and keep venting!!

me me me i'm totally miserable i know it could be way worse.. but i just feel like dang i feel really really pregnant now. I feel so heavy its hard to walk around and roll out of bed and i ache all the time. But i keep pushing on. The new worry is all this discharge. I can't figure out if its PEE or not. But it stopped today. I just feel like i'm always wet, i'm not but i feel like i am, i'm going to complain about that next appt. Thank god i see my dr. I want sex so bad lol to connect with dh but with all this monkey business of discharge and my hips shifting and the babies basically grinding away in my pelvis STAY AWAY FROM ME! And in the past 2 weeks breathing has just become insanely difficult. I have to lay down more on the account of i can't breathe than anything its making like pretty misserable. I can't even let my son cuddle up with me because anything near my ribs makes me yelp in pain, they're just sooo sore. And i've been feeling really hot lately i'm praying its not my blood pressure, but when i can't breathe sometimes i start feeling really warm. UGh.. i still have a ways to go.. i so want to be done.. but at the same time i'm holding on to this pregnancy and loving it, my babies are much cheaper in my belly food wise lol and sleepwise and this is probably my last pregnancy even though dh dropped the bomb that he'd still like to have a little girl with me. 4 CHILDREN good god... lol we'll see how he handles the twins.

I feel you. This is my 3rd pregnancy and never experienced anything similar to this one. I kept going literally up until my due date. So this has definitely been something! I am almost 32 weeks, but I would say that although I have felt discomfort throughout, it has intensified over the over the last 3-4 weeks. The last few days have been really bad. It has been really hot here and I am getting over a cold so maybe that is making it seem worse. I have just decided to take it easy from here on out. I have a laptop, so I plugged it up in my room last night. I am going to doctor on Wednesday and will see what they recommend as far as continuing to work at this point. I work from home and do not have a set schedule as I am an independent contractor, which has really been helpful during this pregnancy. Hang in there everyone! We will get there! ;) Take it easy and keep those babies healthy!

I completely feel your pain. I have never been this uncomfortable w/a pregnancy before... and it feels like it all hit me when I went from 26 to 27 weeks. My back suddenly is killing me all the time, my hips and pelvis just ACHE... and I'm completely convinced that one of the boys has somehow managed to fracture one of my ribs. On top of all that are the coming BH contractions. Oy. Painless, my butt.

Has anyone else been dealing with insomnia as you get farther along? I'm lucky if I can get four hours of sleep in a night without waking up. Grr.

I think 28wks was the beginning of my hard times. It was like slamming into a brick wall. The heartburn and reflux for me started early. I went nexium and feel soo much better.
As for the rest of it...no one tells you the glamour involved in a pregnancy. When I was in the hospital, I sneezed and peed my pants a little...not funny then. I felt like a little old lady. You lose control of things you tend to take for granted.
Now, My belly feels like it is a taffy pull and just being stretched..itchy!! I've lost most of my appetite and experience a lot of the aches and pains you mentioned.
My granny just turned 85 and she said to me "You just don't know how it feels to be so old." I told her I had a pretty good idea how she felt. Thankfully mine is only temporary.
Anyway, I hope your having some good days too!
    Hang in there.

    Insomnia?

If they didn't give me Ambien here at the hospital, I'd be up all night. . . but wait! I am up every hour - even on Ambien - to go potty!

Thankyou so much everyone.. I am sorry that everyone is going through the same thing.. but at the same time its so nice to have people that understand.

Ambien= a deeper sleep for me.. I still wake to go potty but I tend to fell back to sleep more quickly and sleep harder. Other wise I get insomnia so bad that I don't sleep until 2 am.. wake every hour to pee and it takes me a good 40 min to get back to sleep.

I called my doctor today to ask him about Ambien and he said "No way." He won't even let me take Tylenol PM. How did ya'll get so lucky?

Aly, I won't call myself lucky because I had to be hospitalized (since April 28) on strict bedrest. Due to the anxieties of being stuck in bed with a high risk pregnancy, they give it (Ambien) to all the antenatal patients here. I didn't want it at first. . . but trust me, at the end of laying in the bed all day, you need something to help you rest or you'll lose your mind.

I have no idea why no Tylenol PM! All that is in it is: Tylenol (on the OK list) and Benadryl/Diphenhydramine (Also on the OK list)

That doesn't make any sense to me!

 That would probably just be the difference in dr.s. Tylonal PM is safe ..Other sleep aids mixed with Vit B6 are used to help with morning sickness. These are class B drugs.. safe to use while pregnant. Ambien/Zolpidem is a class C which some dr.s will prescribe and some won't but a class C just means that they haven't done enough studies on pregnant women to call it safe.

I would listen to your dr though. If he says no then I wouldn't take anything. He might have other reasons for not wanting you to take it.

I am so glad i seen this post. I thougth i was the only one "really" feeling it now. I have had a horrible couple of weeks and last night was the worst. I cried and cried cause I didn't want to do this anymore. I know its silly to feel that way but OMG everything hurts, i can't breath and i am fat. It sure does help seeing that others are going through the same thing. Not that I wish this on anyone(meaning the pain ect) but it is reassuring to me to see others in the same situation.

I know i can do this. I just have to keep telling myself this. I also know that its just going to keep getting worse. I keep saying i am going to look really old once i am done with this pg. I have hardly slept a wink. I take benadryl or tylenol pm just to try and get some kind of ZZZ's. The countdown in on, no more than 10 more weeks.. What a way to sike myself out..

Thanks for listening to all my whinning, i am sure it can be worse. Please tell me to shut up already. I am on my own nerves!

You're totally right. Thanks for putting it in perspective. I don't know how you do it. I WOULD go insane. :) You rock.

  21. I am right there with you, girls! I am 30 weeks and I feel like I got hit by a truck. I feel worse now than I did at 41 weeks with my singletons! My belly is sore, not just the skin, but the whole thing. I have cramping in my pelvis. My back hurts so bad, it feels like I got slammed with a hammer by the end of the night! My boobs are huge so now my upper back/shoulders are starting to ache. Walking is really hard for me and gives me tons of contractions. Even grocery shopping is a huge event for me now! Baby B has her feet down in my pelvis (she's footling breech with her feet next to A's head) and she keeps kicking my bladder. Sometimes I think I'm gonna pee myself when she kicks! NONE of the chairs in the house are comfy to me, can't even get comfy in bed very well. <_<

Anyway.....I am SOOOOOOOO feeling your pain, ladies!

Hang in there, I swear it flies by. Pretty soon you'll be like me, marveling at how your twins could already be outgrowing their 0-3 month clothes. The pain and heartburn and everything else will just be a memory. Concentrate on taking it day by day. :)

I am 30 weeks/1 day and I am feeling everything that everyone else is! Sometimes my daughter will wake up in the night and I lay here and pray that she just goes back to sleep. Next week is the last week that my husband can travel with work and he is headed to Houston again. Hopefully his job down there will be done by Wednesday. He doesn't do a whole lot in the middle of the night because he can sleep through a hurricane, but in the evenings he does everything for me! I am getting to the point that I like them in here because I think I am getting a little more sleep than I would be if they were here but I can't wait to see them!!!!!

Aww, Mel I'm sorry you're going through all this. What does your MW say? I'm sure things are fine and that your loss of appetite is from the bug you had last week. I bet it made your already squished tummy shrink up even more. I will have maybe a day a week where I just don't feel very hungry. It's so strange!

My only complaints are the heartburn and it's hard to turn over in bed at night due to my belly sticking out so far, LOL!!!

Hang in there, you're almost done! Soon you'll have those babies in your arms. :)

Okay, random question: Has anyone else had hair issues? Sometime during the last few weeks I've noticed that I'm starting to lose my hair! I'll wash my hair and pull out like 5-10 strands. Has this happened to anyone else? It's seriously freaking me out. I'm afraid I'm going to have a bald spot at the rate this is going...

I'm having the same problem. All day long I'm pulling loose strands of hair. When I brush my hair, I feel like I lose about 30 strands.

I´m 35 weeks and I can barely move because I´m in so much pain afterwards.... I can hardly breath and I´m taking Ambien to sleep.
At 35 weeks with my singletons I was excersizing! Now I can´t do the smallest tasks. I hate it when people compare it to a singleton pregnancy, I have 3 more kids and it has absolutely nothing to do with carrying twins!!!!

i have been having a pretty hard pregnancy myself. my back has been hurting from the beginning, which my doctors give me vicodin for.. the nausea, if it is pregnancy or even if its not, if u have good insurance u should ask your doctor for zofran, it has beena life saver to me. its expensive and my ins. only would cover 12 a month but i talked to my worker and she made it so i can get 30, enough for 1 a day which is all u need. the minute u feel nausous take one of those and if its the dissolve kind it goes away in seconds, if its the pill kind it maybe takes 10 minutes. the swelling, i only had it in my feet beofre i got put on bedrest but i would always sit in my rocking chair with my feet on the foot stool and a cold rag wrapped around each foot. it doesnt prevent it but it really really feels good, or i have put a bucket of cold water to set my feet in in like 5 minute increments then put them up for 5 and so on, that feels even better but is a bit messier. i had heartburn so bad i ate hundreds of tums and rolaids, finally my doctor prescribed me to 20 mg of pepcid twice a day and it pretty much worked unless i ate something acidic... hm.. ooh i dont know if u mentioned headaches but i would get some pretty bad ones which extra strength tylenol worked perfect on. they say reg tylenol only but my doc gave me permission to take that for headaches and backache thats not bad enough for vicodin.

My sister is the worst for this! She's always telling me all the things she was doing weeks before her due date. She makes me feel like I'm just being lazy. <_< She also thought that she was as big or bigger than I am when she was full term, but when I needed to borrow a dress, all the dresses that she wore right up to the end were way too small for me. I felt justified.

Shoot I am only 27 wks and feeling the aches and pains! Probably because this is my third pregnancy, I have no tummy muscles left to hold my stomach up (2 babies and 2 c/s's), so my back aches pretty bad from the weight in front! Ugh! 10 more weeks or so!! :D
