Our boys are here!!!!

I wish I knew how to post pictures. Do you wanna know their birth story instead?

I was put on bedrest and given meds to stop contractions at 30 weeks for dialation (3cm), effacing (70%), and funneling. Each week at my appointments I was a little further along but somehow managed to stay pg. At 36 weeks, this Monday, he took me off the contraction meds and I was 6cm and just about completely effaced. He allowed me to go home but didn't think I'd make it through the end of the week. Sure enough...

At 2:20 am Tuesday, I woke up to incredible back pressure. I wasn't sure if it was just from being big and uncomfortable or if labor was starting. Five minutes later I knew. I got up and took a shower and the contractions started speeding up. In 15 minutes they were every three minutes and dh asked if I was timing. Yep. He got up took a quick shower and off we went to the hospital.

They were expecting me.

Got me set up in a labor room and my OB came in announced 100% effaced and a very stretchy 9 and a half. He broke my water and allowed me to labor for awhile. I asked for something to take the edge off but I wasn't ready to push yet. I was given some nubain. It's not great for pain management but it did help me to relax and go with the labor. Around 10 I told dh it would be soon. The nurse came in and asked how I was doing. I told her I didn't have the urge to push yet but it would be very soon. She checked me out and had me try to push. Next thing I know they are getting dh in his gown and people are moving in and out to move me to the OR. Hospital's policy that twins are born in the OR. They got me situated on the torture device known as a operating table. I panicked that I wouldn't be able to get in a good pushing postion but my OB had me try to get comfortable and then give a trial push and....

Nathan John was born at 10:28 am weighing 6 lbs, 11 oz. and 18 inches long.

His brother was breech and OB planned on doing a breech extraction but he flipped immediately and my cervix began to close. So I was wheeled back to my labor room and allowed to labor for awhile. The nurse came to check in on me and I told her it would be very soon. She had me go ahead and try pushing but I wasn't ready. About 30 minutes later my OB came in to check on me and he said, "Let's go ahead and try pushing."

James Eli was born at 12:28 pm weighing 7 lbs, 3 oz. and 18 inches long.

They are perfect, beautiful, and simply wonderful. :wub:

Oh Congratulations!!!! I am so excited for you. It sounds like a pretty fast labor and did you really only get Nubain for the pain? You are a super woman!! I can't wait to see pictures of your little men. They sound just heavenly!

Yep. Demerol is my preference but OB was afraid the babes would be born to quickly. And really the first set of contractions and laboring wasn't that unbearable -- not like my other pregnancies -- I was on edge about delivering twins but painwise it wasn't sending me over the edge. HOWEVER, the second set of laboring was monsterous and just like my other children's births -- I guess the uterus has more room and leadway to contract than when there are two in there. I wanted drugs, lots of drugs and I could feel myself losing control to the pain, but for the second round there wasn't time.

OH, and thanks for how to post the pics. That I can do. It's the getting them on our computer that presents the problem. :laughing:
