They want to socialize, not eat!

So the girls are 3 1/2 months, they take 4 oz at a time, every 3 or so hours. But halfway through they stop and want to smile and talk to us, and won't finish their bottle! Then they are hungry a couple of hours later. THERE WILL BE NO GRAZING IN THIS HOUSE! ;-)

How can I get them to eat? They wake up very hungry and crying, then an ounce or 2 later they are done and wanting to chat!

Hello! Our girls are doing the same thing right now. They are one week older than yours (born March 17th). We noticed that they can't have any distractions: TV, bright lights, etc. Sometimes we will eventually get them to finish their bottles and other times not. I hope its just a phase because I will not let them graze either.

    THanks,
    Jen

Good luck.. it only gets worse! They are really interested in the world and that interest grows as they get older and more mobile.

I believe my girls were like this at that age. They were doing about 4-5 oz. every 3 1/2 - 4 hours. When we would lapse back into a 3 hour/3-4 oz. schedule, we would gradually increase them little by little back to 3 1/2 - 4 hours. Would this be possible for you? It used to take about a week but it would make a world of a difference. For us it meant trying to divert their attention or listening to fussing more than we wanted to, but it was soooo worth it.

Thanks for the replies. DS was such a good eater, slurp down the entire thing, burp, and that was it. It is strange to have 2 that are so social!

My MIL was here helping take care of the twins and she said when my husband was little, he would do the same thing; so when she fed him, she would have to look the other way and sneak glances to make sure he was eating, but not let him see her or else he would smile, talk and not eat.

    Good luck.

    Erica.

I agree with the not "looking thing" BUT..you might try switching your nipples to faster flowing nipples. Our girls will still do this if they accidentally get a slow flow nipple. It's kind of funny when they do this.

    hope this helps.
