Both of the girls lost their belly button scabs on Thursday. So we started giving them both a "real" bath before bed every night on Friday. (Even though its really just a quick soak in the bubbly water) Well, last night they had their baths, got swaddled and took their bottles then they proceeded to SLEEP for FIVE HOURS!! It was awesome!!

Our pedi gave us permission last week to let them sleep longer than 3 hours. He said "no more than 4 during the day and 5 at night though" and he added "not that they'll sleep that long anyway". But they did. I kept checking on them every 30 or 45 minutes to make sure they were okay but they just slept and slept so peacefully.

Now we just put them down after baths and I can't wait to see if they're going to make this a habit. [IMG] They've been such agreeable babies from day one, this would just be icing on the cake. [IMG] [IMG]

Couldn't be happier with my beautiful girls! ~ Laura

you are so lucky! Becca will sleep long stretches, but Jake won't - in part because we have trouble with him taking a full feed (he's a snacker) and he's smaller...but it's getting better...day by day [IMG]

Wow I am jealous. My DS and DD will have long stretches of sleep during the day it seems but night time not a lot of luck. My DS has the occasional 4-5 hour stretch but my DD is a snacker as well and will go 2-3hours and scream until she gets her bottle. My DS is a screamer as well but goes from 0-purple in 2.2seconds he wants to be fed the moment he wakes and does not like to wait at all.

Okay, so its not a new trend. [IMG] But they're still both very agreeable babies...very awake and agreeable.

They went back to the every-three-hours routine last night. They weren't too fussy though. They woke up around 1:30AM grunting and coo'ing for a few minutes before they got mad for the bottle. But then one or both of them was awake and coo'ing or poo'ing at any given point in time between then and 4:30AM. They weren't been stressful really, I just wasn't able to sleep at all.

At 5:30AM, I had just pulled a crying Genevieve back out of the co-sleeper and McKenna was starting to stir too. I just wanted to give her the paci so she wouldn't wake herself all the way up, but I couldn't find it. I KNEW it was on top of her blanket just 2 minutes ago and I dug all around the cosleeper, pulled out everything that was in there and totally LOST IT! Not just the paci, but my sanity. [IMG] DH woke up to me in tears, mumbling incoherently and tossing blankets all over the room cussing out a pacifier. He gets up and finds it right away. It turns out McKenna had it in her sweet little hand the whole time! That was too cute and it made me cry even more!

Needless to say, my DH sent me to bed and "took over" with the girls for a few hours...'til he had to go to work. I remember switching sides of the bed and crying a little more, but that's about it. [IMG]

This was NOT a bad night at all, so I don't know where all the tears came from. Maybe just the accumulation of missed hours of sleep was catching up to me??

I'm also thinking that the house WAS full of tension last night (my older kids trying to work out new visitation arrangements with my @#$%^& ex-husband so they can be here with their sisters more often). Maybe the girls were picking up on that???

Or maybe they're just teeny tiny and still trying to find their groove?

Whatever it is, I know I'll find a way to make it work. Just wanted to share with all you moms who would understand.

    Hi Laura [IMG]

Just a little hello from the land of sleeping kids - it's so great that they did FIVE hours, and I take it as a good omen that the other nite is just a fluke and they'll be sleeping in regularly pretty soon.

Ours always slept better than predicted, and we typically have at least one 15-hour straight sleep a month.....sleep is good, sleep is good, sleep is good. That's our mantra!

Glad you're on the way and they're as sweet as they are beautiful! GL with the visitation [IMG]

Sleep deprivation is a horrible thing, I can totally see why you were crying, hun! It will get better, although mine are still getting up once a night! [IMG] Maybe someday it will get better for me!

Congrats on your little sweeties btw!

Laura, I'm sure you know because these aren't your first kiddos, but maybe you need a reminder: the tears are SOOOOOOO normal!!! Your hormones are going crazy and you are totally sleep deprived!! VERY NORMAL!!! Honestly for me, the tears didn't really stop until I was on a normal sleep schedule again. You have a great attitude! You are an awesome mommy!
