It says juice adds important nutrients and will not make a kid overweight as long as the guideline of 4 oz was followed. Even in kids who drank more it did not dramatically increase weight. Pure juice drinkers it said, ate less fat and more fruits and got more vitamins

I don't give mine juice unless it's a bday party or I need to mix it with pedialyte when they're sick. If I did though, I would definitely stick to the 4oz. recommendation. Even if weight were not a concern, it's horrible for their teeth. Our pediatric dentist has told me horror stories about some of the tooth decay he has seen in 2 and 3 year olds, so I'm sticking with milk and water!

My girls have become juice monsters. I dilute it and I don't think they get much more than 4 oz per day. I am choosing my battles and juice seems fairly harmless (I do hope we are getting teeth brushed well enough, since that's another battle).

But anyway, I was raised on Kool-Aid!

Im in the same boat as Marie. Lately I have been watching thier intake with it...limiting it to about 2 sippies a day (All diluted)...everything else is Milk, but they wont drink water, so its hard for me to try and force that down them. I also brish thier teeth at night, and try and check thier teeth daily.

I was raised on juice too...my mom always telling me how good it was for me...I know that when they are older and we are fighting them against soda, we hope they still want the juice!!!!

I heard that yesterday, but it's really not going to change anything for us. We do only milk & water.

Grace doesn't really care for juice, but Lily likes it. Lily drinks so much milk that I had to limit her milk so I started giving her half juice half water at her afternoon snack, probably about 3-4 ounces a day. They will both drink water just fine, but I like to add the juice because my girls need those extra calories (over plain water).

But if it is not meal time, they get water in their sippy.

We drink plain water unless they are constipated.
