They have figured out how to take off their pants - PROBLEM - they do it during nap!

What can I do? It just started about a week ago. They are constantly taking off their pants and of course next comes the diaper. It is now taking forever for them to settle down and go to sleep. I thought maybe that it would wear off after a while, but it isn't slowing down yet. I am glad for their accomplishment, but naptime just isn't the right time. Bedtime isn't a problem because they wear one piece pajamas. Today I put them down at 12:15 and I literally went in every 2 minutes to put their pants back on and lay them down for probably about an hour. Finally they settled and realized I wasn't giving up and went to sleep about 1.5 hours after being put down. They are tired, I don't think that is the issue. They are just so facinated with this new ablility. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Maybe you can try putting them in overalls or snapping onesies over their pants?

I've heard about putting everything on backwards. It may work?
    Good luck.

One of my sons takes his pants off. I just let him take them off and he then falls asleep. I know he is doing it because him and his brother think it is so funny, so I hear them laughing on the monitor. After his pants are off, he sleeps. If I were to keep going in there, he would never sleep. But . . . mine have never tried the diaper. Are yours taking the diaper off, or are you just afraid they will? If they haven't done it yet, just let them take off their pants.

One of my boys has done this a few times. He just goes to sleep with it off. The diaper hasn't been explored yet so it's easy to just let him go to sleep without pants. They go back on when he gets up and he never takes them off then. I would suggest letting it go as long as the diaper isn't involved. If you keep going in to put the pants off it sounds like it could become a game for him (you know like when they keep throwing the cup from the high chair LOL) If it became more of a problem I would try overalls and suspenders. Good Luck Mary

Annika does this. I have to put a onesie under everything, including pj's. She's figured out how to operate a zipper already. The onesie is just one layer too many for her and on a good one, the snaps are stiff.
    Good luck.

Nicole and Danielle do that and they just didn't outgrow it. They just loved to take off all their clothes and their diapers. So they have to be pinned to sleep. They get diaper pins in the front and back to keep their clothes on during naps and bedtime. Otherwise they take everything off and make a mess.

Put duck tape over their diaper before you put them down. That way they can take their pants off and trust me, they won't be able to get the diaper off. I have friends that swear by this. [IMG]

I started to put footed pjs over their cloth when they name. Sometimes backwards depending on what they are wearing that day.

Yes, the diapers are coming off too. I can handle the pants. They did it that way for a couple of days, then the diapers started. I know it could become a game of me going back in, I am just concerned they will have their diaper off and decide to use pee or have bm. Maybe I could try the onsies. I'm not sure if they could get them off or not. Thanks for the suggestions.

    Hi, there,

I just found the solution to this one (took me long enough). Ds has been doing this for a while now, nothing has helped - not even putting layers of clothes on, such as a onesie over shorts and then pants, even overalls (he unsnaps them). But one things works: footed blanket sleepers.

Best invention ever for baby boys!!! I'm stocking up now. Changing him into this before naptime is easier than chaning wet clothes - and sheets, etc. - later (not to even mention the possibility of a soiled diaper! Use your imagination as to what happens in this case.)

BTW, dd will undress sometimes - including the diaper, of course - but only to get attention. Rarely at naptime.

When that happened, I started putting on their pajamas during naptime. Once they figured out how to undo the zipper, I turned the pajamas inside out so they couldn't get to the zipper.

I put mine back in their feet-in jammies for naps because they were taking off their pants and diapers and making a mess. Can't tell you how many sheets I've had to change. So it's worth a couple minutes to change their clothes. We've even had to put safety pins on the zippers because they've mastered the zipper. If you don't want to put their jammies back on, maybe put on a onesie as someone else suggested. They seem to have difficulty with those snaps.

I'm not sure when this curiosity will end. They started to potty train and have decided to take a "break".

    Good luck to you!

My MIL found 18month sleep sacks for the girls. We dont use them at night but they are great for keeping their pants on during nap time. One day I went up and Kayleigh only had a shirt around her neck, diaper and all were on the floor and both girls were laughing.
