Okay, so both my babies have had horrible stuffy noses the last 2 days, presumably a bug they caught from someone at Thanksgiving. They are eating fine, not acting any crabbier than usual, and don't have a fever so I've not called the pedi. I have noticed since yesterday afternoon though that DD is having less urine in her diapers, she is wet at every change, but usually she is soaking at least once or twice a day. I changed her this morning after 6 hours and her diaper wasn't nearly as wet as usual. Does this warrant a call to the pedi or should I just wait it out. They go this Saturday for their 2 month well baby check and shots.

If it were me, I would wait it out and save myself the co-pays. Perhaps a call to talk to the nurse would ease your mind? I look at their intake (more than their output because that will vary) and their mood as cues, and sounds like yours are doing well.

Good Luck, and I hope everyone is better soon!

If there is no fever, vomi, etc I would wait. Make sure she is drinking so she wont get dehydrated. You can use some saline spray and suction the nose with a bulb syringe if that would make her feel more comfortable, elevate the head of the crib, and use a humidifier. I think like the PP a call to the nurse is always a good idea if it would ease your concerns.

Sounds like no biggie to me. How's their appetite? Try to get lots of fluids in them if they'll take it - mine just had their first cold and I offered the breast every 1.5-2 hrs. Saline drops & suction will help clear their noses. Watch for fever, all that stuff, and by all means call if you're concerned, but sounds like just a cold.

You worry when that much time has gone by and still a dry diaper. If it's wet, it's wet. If you're real concerned at the extent to which they are congested, I believe that there are one or 2 decongestant nose sprays/nose drops for infants. You'll be hard pressed to find any OTC decongestant meds since the manfacturers pulled them.

Ditto, that is what we are doing as well. That is also what the pedi will tell you to do.

I find that if I clean Katie's nose out before her feeding she can/will eat better for me.

I'm on the fence here. Babies under 6 months old, esp. newborn infants under 3 months old should be seen by my doc if they have cold symptoms. The reason is that types of meningitis can be fatal to an infant, and sometimes are undetectable by a parent. My advice is if you think you want to call a pedi, you should.
