okay, we've been having a very tough week, so i may be posting a LOT in the next few days!

my girls hate HATE being in the car. they're okay when we put them in, but 2 minutes into the ride someone starts whining. then they're both whining, then crying. i drove home from my parents' house (an hour away) and had to sing the same 3 songs over and over for one hour. (my voice was scratchy by the time i came home. ) they throw everything i give them. they just want freedom and entertainment. is it going to be like this forever?

(if it's a longer trip, i try to schedule the drives during naptime so they can just sleep in the car, but it doesn't always happen. )

Sorry!!! I have no advise just want to send you a  and let you know that you aren't alone DS does the same thing! I've started bringing our portable DVD player along with us for the drive and it has helped some!

My son was the same way. I can remember my DH and I going to church for the first time together (we had just started dating) and my son screamed the whole 40 minute car ride there. Isn't it good to know they will eventually grow out of that.

I'm here to commiserate with you. I posted on this a while back & pretty much just heard they'll 'outgrow it' (the usual response!!). My boys are HORRIBLE in the car. If Aiden has his lovey, he's usually ok for short rides. Conner does ok if he can untie & pull off his shoes. I have kid CDs that we play & I'll sing & dance ridiculously (which is embarrassing, but it's better than hearing screaming!).

All of our family is at LEAST an hour away (3 1/2 hrs to my parents') so I dread any long trips. We stopped going at naptime because they'll only sleep for a short time before freaking out (even though at home they'd sleep longer). When one starts, the other goes crazy too. And I seem to have a short temper for screaming in cars...it goes right to my very last nerve. We started travelling at bedtime only if it's more than an hour & even that can be a catastrophe.

I hear ya on throwing things. I'll give them a sippy, a snack, a toy, etc & they'll throw it but then cry for it. It drives me NUTS!

I can't wait til they can tolerate car rides. Maybe then we'd visit family more often!!!!

My girls dont hate the car that much but I do try to keep the rides relatively short and stay pretty local. We also go out almost every day for something so they are fairly used to the car.
I have the problem with trucks though, Maia freaks when she is in the carseat and strange men wave to her or pump our gas. Like FREAKS!! Hysterically!! And doesnt stop until I pick her up! But my girls are both rear facing still as they dont weigh enough to turn them around yet.

Maybe try taking a short drive every day, even if its just to dunkies to grab a coffee/tea so they get used to the car. I know its a pain but it might help. :pardon:

Oh mine are the same way. We never go anywhere and when we do they cry. They really cry if they are over tired. The longest trip we take is about a 20 minute trip to my parents house on sundays and other than that they are just in their seats for 5 minutes around town. It gets on my last nerve and I am a basket case by the time I get home if they cry in the car.
