my dd uses the podee bottle so i don't know what to do about that, but my ds uses a regular bottle, but doesn't hold it by himself yet...is that bad? they both don't really use sippy cups yet partly because i haven't pushed it (should I) and they just don't seem to get it...what should i do??

It seems that they like the cuddles and attention they get from you feeding them. I don't think it is bad unless you do. Maybe you would rather be doing something else with your time. If you want them to stop. Don't feed them. If they want the bottle they will pick it up.

My twins never held their own bottle, we never really pushed it.

My oldest DD starting holding hers at 8 months though.

My guys are just starting to hold their bottles. I am not so worried about that as working on the sippy cups and table food.

My girls have just started to hold their own bottles, and they can only do so when in a reclined position. They still lose track of what they're doing and end up sucking air halfway through the meal.

Edit: Just thought I'd add that for us, sippy-cups are more of a chew toy than anything else. Sometimes they'll hold them, but usually they just stare at them funny.

Our girls won't hold theirs. They are doing great with sippy cups but really could care less about their bottles. They aren't big eaters and don't get excited to drink them so they really don't want to hold them.

Oh well - I am not worried about it.

K&K never held their bottles. It didn't concern me, I actually preferred it. Bottle holding is not a milestone of any kind.

What I did with the sippy cup was to put water in them and just leave them on the floor where ever they were playing. I got the kind with the handles and it didn't take long before they were playing with them and putting them in their mouth like every other thing they touched!
