My girls have been rocking on their hands and knees for about 2 months now and they still cant crawl. They will be 8 months actual age on the 28th. They were a month early and I know you are supposed to adjust for their age but I thougt since they started rocking at about 6 months that they would be crawling by now!! Emily just got the hang of being able to put herself into a sitting position and actually can sit up for about 15 minutes by herself without falling. Alana still doesnt sit up very well, she falls about every 5 minutes and she cant get up into the sitting position by herself yet. I know a lot of people would say "why do you want them to crawl, then you will have to chase them" but I have been waiting for so long. Any advice on some help to get them crawling? Should Alana be able to sit on her own by now?

I defnitely wouldn't be worried that there was a problem. Mine are 8 months old and just started sitting on their own a few weeks ago and that's with me putting them in the sitting position. They definitely aren't even close to getting there by themselves. Mine were two months early, but I'm very happy with where mine are now. I just figure they'll do everything in their own time.

They will get there. Give them plenty of opportunity to be on the floor. Put some really interesting toys in front of them. Mine sat at 7 months and crawled at 8-9.

my girls didn't crawl until 10.5 months or so. and Riley still can't get herself into a sitting position - unless it's from falling down onto her butt after pulling up. i wouldn't worry about it - they'll get there when they get there.

We started crawling in the 9th month, but they could pull up and stand and sit up on their own. But I had late crawlers and late walkers with no issues. We were 36 weekers too and never adjusted age for anything. (FYI)

Jack crawled early, but Nate is still army-crawling. I don't think he'll ever crawl on his hands and knees since he moves so fast on his belly. And he can't get himself into a sitting position yet either.

My ped says that crawling is a 9 month milestone. Since your girls aren't even 8 months old (actual), then they should "normally" be able to crawl in another month. And sometimes you do have to give them their "preemie-credit" and use the adjusted age for certain milestones.

It's very hard not to compare them to other kids, and especially to each other. Jack makes Nate look "slow", but I know he's just doing things on his own time. It still drives me nuts just about every day!!

My 36 weekers didn't sit until 8 months old and that was with me putting them there...army and drag crawled around 9 months and didn't bother to do a traditional hands-knee crawl until close to 11 months old. I wouldn't worry too much...my boys rocked on their hands and knees starting around 6.5 months...and they didn't even start crawling that way until much later.

Mine are 8 months old and not crawling yet either. Honestly, I'm not looking forward to them crawling any time soon!!! :p I like keeping them somewhat contained and I know that when they start crawling, it will be nuts!

My DD did not start crawling until she was 8 months old and my DS was close to 10 months before he started. Both of mine started sitting up between 5-6 months but did not get good at it until 7 months. It's hard not to worry or compare but it will happen! Hang in there :)

I agree, they'll get there. :good: Mine didn't crawl until 9.5 months.

Mine didn't start crawling until they hit 9 months. They were rocking for ages, able to sit up etc, but couldn't quite make the connection. I know it's exciting, and it looks like they will any second, but some babies take longer than others.

One of my boys took about 2 months to go from rocking to full complete crawling. The other took about 4-6 weeks. Sometimes it takes awhile and both of my little guys did their own version of crawling to get around in the meantime. I was also convinced they might never fully crawl, that they'd eventually move on to bigger and better things without figuring out this one milestone.

It takes some patience and observation, that's all.
