OK, I have to brag. [IMG]

My girls have really been into watching Baby Einstein Baby McDonald. Everyday they BEG to watch "Sarmer" (can't say F). So I decided to capitalize on this and did a Farm Theme this week. Reading farm books, watching the movie, and making a mural. I put paper on the wall and had them color pictures at their table and glue them on the wall etc. Spending the last 3-4 days talking about everything we know on the farm. Rachel can now recite the contents of the BE movie: things on the farm, animals on the farm, food from the farm. This afternoon we are going to go thru the stuffed animals and add them to the mural somehow.

Any ideas on how to finish out the week? We still have 2ft of snow on the ground so visiting a Farm isn't on my list.

Next week I'm going to have to have a new theme. Any ideas?

Get a bunch of dead grass, call it hay, and scatter it all over the living room. (Just kidding. [IMG])

No good ideas for finishing out farm week, but for next week -- how about transportation week? My girls' daycare did this recently and everyone had a ball playing with the trucks, trains, etc. [IMG] And goodness knows there are a lot of Thomas videos.

Do you have a wagon? YOu could bring it inside, call it a tractor, and "feed" the animals. Have animals taped to the wall in different areas of the house. Talk about what they eat...very simply, of course! And put a bowl there for the kiddos to put that animals food in!

Oh, you could also let them roll in "mud" like a pig does! hhmmmm...i'm thinking of how to do this.....maybe you could give them brown fingerpaint to let them paint the tub with. Then, just give them a bath when it's over! But, they'd have to be required to make pig noises the whole time! lol

Alden, I already used Raffia ribbon to make mini hay bales. You are too funny though about scattering grass everywhere. LOL. With my luck the girls would start eating it, pretending they were horses.

    New themes:

    Transportation
    Family
    Weather
    Under the Sea
    Spring (plants and baby animals)

    What a great idea!!!!

Wow - you're much more creative than I am. I've never even thought of doing anything with themes. But just wanted to comment that Elliot and Clarissa LOVE Baby MacDonald. They ask for it all the time as "Baby Old MacDonald". Elliot especially loves anything with animals, and particularly farm animals - any time he sees a picture of a farm animal he starts singing E-I-E-I-E-I-E-I . . .

We even got to stay on a real farm back in January and he was in heaven (except that it was freezing cold!)
