OK, hmmmm ... when is the shoe going to drop, all heck to break loose, the crying and banging on the door going to start?? We made the big (and dreaded) move to big girl beds tonight and I feared all of the above and more ... swinging from the curtains ... pulling all the toys out ... getting in the bathtub ... but it has just been very painless. They are already quiet and when they were in cribs they would have probably still been chatting it up in there ... there is no way this is going to be this easy =) Anyone have good results at the start then once they got "comfortable" with the new situation then they were everywhere?? Hmmmmm ... I am so intrigued! They are pretty law abiding girls but are big stallers when it comes to time for bed! My guess is that naptime may not be so easy tomorrow ... but we shall see!

We didn't switch to big girl beds until they were past 3, but it was pretty easy. The first night, it was downright blissful (as you describe). That lasted for a week or so, and then they got a little bit more interested in exploring their freedom. But on the whole, they have been very cooperative about staying in bed (or at least in the room, when we give them permission to be out of bed), and fairly responsive to consequences (we take away books & toys) if they break the rules.

I think it depends a lot on the kids. My girls' room is not totally childproofed (i.e., we still have curtains and furniture in there  ) but they just don't really mess with things. That's just their personalities, luckily for us.

Yay for your transition getting off to a good start! :yahoo: I can honesty say that I was petrified to transition to toddler beds because of all the horror stories I had heard/read, but our transition went seamlessly. I was cautiously optimistic as you are after the first few nights going so well, and I was just waiting for it to get ugly and it never did. My girls sleep much better in their big girl beds then they ever did in their cribs. It has almost been 5 months for us now, and it is still smooth sailing here. I hope the same is true for you! Good Luck!

I was very scared about switching also, but our transition has been pretty painless as well. I kept waiting for problems, but it has been about 4 months and they love their beds. I hope your good fortune continues!

We just did this yesterday with DD. We were SO scared as to how last night would go, but um, she got in bed and stayed there. She got down this morning, but I heard her, so I went right in. She had already taken off her nighttime diaper and was cleaning herself up. She was happy and excited to see me.

I hope this keeps up for a little while, if not forever. :)

Good luck on your transition as well!

We had a smooth transition too (at around 20 months). The first month or so was great, no issues whatsoever. Then we had a week of stalling for bed and climbing out, but it ended quickly and we've had six months of good sleeping ever since.

Sometimes it IS that easy!! We had a pretty seamless transition too. Nighttime was no big deal at all. Naptime was a little tricky for the first week while we laid down the law and enforced the rules of staying in bed etc. Yay for an easy transition!! :yahoo:

We had a very easy transition with our girls, however, about a month after the transition, naps starting getting a little haywire. Nothing major, but they wanted to play with each other, so we ended up separating them for naps. Night time has never been that big of a deal. My girls are fairly easy going, so other than just having to remind them to stay in bed, we've had very few big issues with night time.

    Congratulations on the easy transition!!
