Their hands are SO cold!

The past few days the babes have transitioned from being completely swaddled to having both arms out. They are dressed in snuggly PJ's, and swaddled from the chest down in a cozy blanket...but their little hands are like ice cubes in the morning! I don't remember dealing with this with my oldest son because he slept on his stomach with his hands tucked in close beside him. The babies sleep on their backs with their arms way out to their sides--so they don't even have body heat keeping them warm. Any of you worry about the same thing? Don't you wish you could just ask them if they're cold or not!?

I know, their hands can get soo cold! My DD likes to chew on a frozen gel ring (teething) and then she puts her hands and mouth to my breast, and Wow! are they ever cold. I have resorted to putting socks on their hands. The socks help keep their hands warm at night. During the day, if I put socks on their hands (which I have when we were in very cold air conditioned buidings) they chew on the socks a lot -- which probably makes their hands cold (and quite clammy)!

Before long 'spose they'll be telling us they are hot or cold!

Socks! I'll give that a try! I have a hard enough time keeping them on their feet...maybe keeping them on their hands will be easier! I know what you mean about freezing hands on your boobs--YIKES! It makes me jump everytime!

LOL, I was going to suggest socks or mittens on their little hands!

DS often has cold, sweaty hands (YUCK). DD almost never does, though she's generally more sensitive to cold. It seems to be just an individual thing. As long as they seem warm enough overall & happy, I'd just shrug it off as one of those things...

I worried about the same thing until I realized that their head, belly, arms and legs were warm so I didn't worry so much anymore. I did ask the pedi about it at one point because Emma's hands were constantly blue and she explained that they have an immature circulatory system still.

We were told by our doctor that cold hands and feet were normal. He said to fell their arms and if its cold then they are cold. I used mittens.
