Well, the colic has kicked in full force. Each day has gotten worse and worse. Thankfully, the gripe water works somewhat at night. It's either the gripe water or she's just cried herself so hard during the day that she's wiped out. Today was the absolute worst. I just kept telling myself over and over that it's just a phase and I kept looking at her and telling her I loved her even though it was kind of hard to right now.

Pick her up, she cries. Lay her down, she cries. Feed her, cries. Burp her, cries. Leg exercises, cries. The swing...5 minutes into it, she cries. I have tried everything. And it's the kind of crying where her eyelashes are soaked and her face is beet red. I must have given her the total recommended dose for the day of the gripe water today. At least she calmed down for about 20 minutes. Only to wake up refreshed and more pi$$ed off than ever. Her sister just sits there and stares at me like, What the heck is going on! Unless the crying lasts so long that she starts crying too.

Oh man, this is not fun. I just wish I could get one iota of an idea of what will help her. I have even tried letting her cry it out. But that didn't last long. Well, 45 minutes, but I just couldn't take it anymore and my heart broke for her.

Okay, that's all. I feel better already. Hope you're all having a better day!

This maybe out in left field, but do you think it could be gas? From what I know colic is usually in the evening. Maybe you could try a different formula, like a soy based. Maybe the milk base is bothering her stomich. I know when Leighanna was having problems I would lay her on her stomich over my lap and pat her back, that aways did the trick. Just a couple thoughts. I hope it gets better for you, heres a hug you sound like you could use it. [IMG]

One more thing, I gave my girls Chamomile Tea, just a couple onces. It helps with colic, gas, and bad dreams. I went to get some Gripe water and they were out so the clerk looked up what else to use and thats whatit said. It worked really good and they loved it.

    Have you tried

    running the vacuum?
putting her next to the dryer while it's running?
turning on the bathroom fan while she's in there?
some kind of colic carry - either with her laying on your arm tummy down or bouncing with her tummy on your leg? Sometimes tummy pressure helps. [IMG]

I'm sorry to hear about colic, it is really hard to deal with!!! Sometimes the best thing you can do is hold her while she cries. Earplugs are not a bad idea - they muffle the crying a bit. [IMG]

I went through a similar thing with one of my boys. Is your DD haveing regular bowl movements? My DS ended up having problems with constipation causing pain and gas. I also found that a warm pack not hot but just warm against his back while he lay on his tummy on my chest for a few minutes really helped. Or even on his tummy for a few min. The doc had ok'd it. He had us use a teaspoon of dark karo surup once a day to get past constipation and it really helped. It is hard to handle when you can't seem to help them. But keep trying new things you may just stumble on to something unexpected that soothes her. Good luck and hang in there.

I'm so sorry! One of my best friends' son was colicy the way your girl is. He cried all day every day for three solid months. The only relief she got was while he was nursing. He would not cry while eating but would start again when he was done. He never, ever slept for more than 20 mins at a time in the day either. I did make her get out of the house because there is nothing worse than sitting around alone with a screaming baby. Come to find out riding in the car put him to sleep every time for at least an hour. Do you have a friend you can go visit during the day? Can you drive around for a while and just get out of the house? Take breaks when you can to hold on to your own sanity. She will cry no matter what you do, so put her in her crib and give your self 15 mins of quiet now and then.I know it sounds like a really long time but things should get better in the next few weeks. Come 12 weeks she should be through the worst of it if not be totally through it.

Of course, you can try all the other things like new formula or if you are BF'ing eliminate dairy/whey from your diet and see if that helps. Try anything and everything, I know I would. Do your best to take care of yourself, she will not remember this time in her life so don't feel horrible for acting like any of us would with a truly colicy baby. Good luck and hang on, it does go away!
