The waiting for labor! Any thoughts?

I am just now 36 weeks which is the week I told myself would be the absolute earliest that I would welcome labor...well, I'd welcome it all right! Aside from some cramps and BH I'm showing no signs of labor. Did anyone else start labor with no real warning signs? I have a c-section scheduled (due to transverse baby) next week so there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

How are all my 36+ weeker partners doing???

Don't wish those babies out, keep them in as long as you can. Take it from someone whose babies came too early, I would have loved to have made it to 36 weeks. Every day counts. I was told every day you stay pregnant is 3 days less the baby spends in the NICU, so every day does count! You've made it this far and you should be proud! :clapping:

I'm not quite a 36 weeker yet, but I know how you feel, on one hand I want these babies out now, on the other, I want to keep them in until 37. I have been taken off work b/c I am 2-3 cm dilated and 50% effaced, so there is nothing to do but sit around and wait, the days go by so slow. 2 weeks is not that long, but it feels like forever!!!

I know it's best if they stay longer and I want what's best for them. I think I'm experiencing a small dose of temporary insanity!

    I am not quite a 36 weeker - but I feel you!!
Of course we know they should stay in longer, but why deny the fact that the pain is getting intense and the weight is becoming painful as well. Contractions sent me to labor and delivery on Sunday, but they were due to dehydration. I was told that my cervix was high and closed - every closed. So - I am thinking I will be closer to 38 weeks rather than 36 weeks. I was sort of hoping for 36 weeks since they are good weights though and have been doing suck/swallow/breathe on ultrasound.

I hope I can make it that long. I am already miserable. VERY VERY miserable. I am only 33 weeks. It is getting hard to imagine that I could possibly be pregnant another 6 weeks. My docs wont induce b/f then. I cant imagine how you feel b/c I am noticing that the pregnancy keeps getting harder and harder to handle.

well girls - here's to our little ones cooking as long as they need and us being patient and SANE at the end here. I'm wishing good things for all of you still waiting too. It's truly amazing that we are this far already right??? We can do it.

Not sure if it means anything but I have had lots of diarrhea (TMI) and cramps last night and today...probably nothing but it feels different.

That can sure be a sign of labor....keep a close eye on it....and make sure to drink lots of water and maybe even throw in some Gatorade....want to keep you hydrated!

    Good luck!

I am not 36 weeks yet but close and I am ready for these babies to come out. I know I want them to stay in for a little while longer but I am ready to meet these little guys.

Good luck you are almost there :D

Hang in there! The end is so near for you..... One more week will make a huge difference for the babies! In general, 37 weekers definitely eat better, sleep better, and have less risk for jaundice, so keep them in just a bit more! I am coming close to the end, too, and I wonder how I'll ever physically make it another month, but for the sake of the babies, I hope I do.....

I didn't have any signs - went to the dr in the morning, he told me I had at least 1 week. Went home took a nap and my water broke at 4 that afternoon.

Good luck - trust me - they can't stay in there forever :)

Hang in there a few more weeks! Things will be easier the longer they stay in. Here's a little nugget to motivate you (for at least 2 more days, lOL). The babies will breastfeed much easier the closer you are to 40 wks. When I brought my girls home at 38 wks from NICU, we were still really struggling with b/f. It was VERY frustrating and I didn't enjoy them at first the way I did with DD1 (born at almost 42 wks and took to breast with NO problem). But literally the day they turned 40 wks was like a miracle; suddenly they were b/f like there was no tomorrow!

So if you plan to b/f, aim for 40 wks! (Ok, at least 37 ;) )

I feel ya! I am only 33 weeks too and I am so very miserable. My BP was up yesterday and then came down. Then she did the GIBS test and checked my cervix. Been having BH ever since. I only have 4 more weeks. My dr's wont' let me go past 37. They say I will go into labor before then. I can't wait till next week when I get my scan to see how much they have grown. I understand keeping them in as long as possible but wow, what an olympic event this has turned out to be.

I am 34 weeks and have never been more physically challenged in my life. Sleep eludes me. I can't remember the last time I went to bed and woke up eight hours later to an alarm. I am so stinking tired of sleeping on my left side. Indigestion flares up every day. A week of working at home on 'bed rest' for gestational edema has done little to minimize the swelling in my legs. But the boys are doing wonderful and even though the three of us seem to be perpetually squished, I want them to develop and grow as long as possible. Our babies will be here before long!
