Im not sure if any of you are farmiliar with the incrediblock, but that stipid toy may have saved my sons life today.

They have a playroom upststairs complete with a TV on a small stand (no big armoires, since I have read about them crushing kids). I was down here helping Sean. I heard this HUGE crash, and connor screaming. Of course, I flew upstairs clearing like 4 steps at a time (Its AMAZING what a mom can do when she thinks her kids are hurt!!!!). There he was laying on the floor, not hurt, but scared. The TV was face down on the floor and the stand was LEANING against the incrediblock!!!!!!!!!!!! He was RIGHT underneath the stand....TALK ABOUT INDREDIBLOCK!!

My guess is that he had it against the TV and climbed it, pulling the tv over. Hes NEVER tried to do that before, so I never thought twice. Needless to say the TV stays on the floor up there. We thought we made the room as safe as possible, especially to let them play alone if they wanted....but its amazing what kids will figure out!!!

So be careful of those TV stands you think are sturdy!!!!

BOY AM I A LUCKY MOMMA TODAY!!! I am actually thinking of sending a letter to Fisher Price (I think thats who makes it) and telling them this story! :bow2:

    How incredibly scary!

I have a big TV that my guys can't budge (or atleast not yet anyway ;) ) But I was considering putting a TV in their playroom... I was going to put it up HIGH... but they are good climbers! Guess I'll think twice about it now!!

    Glad he is okay!! :hug99:

oh that is too scary. When my DH gets home from his business trip the TV is getting moved to the floor. So glad your precious boy is okay.

I'm so GLAD he is ok! We just purchased a tv armoire that is tall and has 2 sets of double doors -- no shelves or anything they can stand on. We are going to secure it to the wall and put our big screen tv (secured of course) on top. It will take the boys a long while to learn how to climb it. We might put a tv in their playroom later but will have it in the corner near the ceiling so that can't get to it anytime soon. Very scary stuff!

We have a tv in the toy room too. My DH built a shelf for it in the corner up high close to the ceiling. He also put a false front on it that has plexiglass window, so there isn't any chance of them throwing something up at the tv and breaking it, but that you can still use the remote to access different channels. We ran the cords down the wall and covered them with corner molding. HTH for anyone looking for a solution.

So glad your little one is ok. It is amazing what kids can accomplish when they want to!

Oh boy! I know exactly how you felt about TV moved to the floor because my boys did that once few months back. My nanny was in the restroom when she heard a big bang, and she ran out of the restroom and saw TV was off the stand facing down on the floor. We have a low TV stand too, against the window. The boys like to climb on to the back of the stand (I strongly against the boys to do that and told the nanny to prevent that) but this time they both pushed the 32" TV off the stand! The nanny was scared to death and vowed to do anything to keep them from climbing to the stand. Imagine if one of the boys was below the TV, that is a very scary moment! A lesson to be learned.

That is one of my biggest fears. We have a tv in the playroom (though we don't actually spend much time in there) that is on a very short stand. I know they could move it if they tried hard enough, which is why I can't leave them alone in that room. We barely use that tv, so your post got me thinking that maybe we should just remove it from the room.

I'm so glad your DS is okay. He's probably a bit shaken (and you, too!).
