So I'm kinda bad about being impulsive, and after my toddler bed questions, i decided just to go for it and try it, with the understanding that if it failed miserably I can always put the crib rails back on for awhile.

It went surprisingly great! Rylee fell out over the bedrail once, we had just walked out of their room and closed the door when we heard the thud :( So after calming her down, getting them both back into bed, we lined the side of the cribs with pillows off the couch. When we came out our 4 yr old was crying, and because we had to leave the hallway light on while we calmed her down, the twins got up one more time. I went in, sternly told them it was night night time and to get into bed, gave them each a small swat on the diaper and they jumped up into bed giggling. And that was it. They went to sleep like they normally do, each woke once overnight coughing, went right back to sleep and slept until their normal time this morning! :D

I'm so pleased! Here's to hoping it continues! Now....nap time is coming up in a few hours....this will be the bigger challenge because they aren't as exhausted at nap time as they are at bedtime :p

Congrats, you are much braver than me. I haven't made the transition yet and don't plan to until they are 3 or so.

Wonderful! Naptime, hmmmm, bigger challenge but they'll get used to it. I hope it goes surprisingly well!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: OK, even with the falling out of bed, that was pretty good. I'm happy for anyone who has had luck with this; it was/is a freakin' nightmare for us.

I have to agree with this sentiment! I think it has more to do with the way your kids are wired and the type of sleeper they are, moreso than age. And you never really know how it's going to go until you just break down and try it. I had one kid who was the "freakin' nightmare"! We tried for maybe a month and a half. After we got so fed up with it, and put the crib back together, my son (who had never even attempted climbing out in the past - didn't even realize that he could) began hurling himself out of the crib faster than we could get to the door (even after we turned it around so the higher end was in the front). He had bruises all over his head, as he'd do this in an angry screaming rage because he was mad we wouldn't sit with him. And when we did to keep him from doing it, he started waking up all hours of the night wanting us to sit with him. I can't tell you what a LIFESAVER the crib tent turned out to be! This lead to us putting them in separate rooms (years before I had planned on splitting them up) before we tried him in a bed 4 mos later. Luckily he did completely fine the second time around.

Sounds like you're off to a great start, I hope it continues for you!
