Is it too early for me to introduce the babies to the swimming pool? When did you take your babies in the swimming pool?

We took them to the pool just before 6 months. I would introduce them at 3 months but probably in a small backyard pool. At 6 months my girls were a little overwhelmed by the noise at the big pool as well as all the other kids. We were in lessons and by the 4th lesson, they were fine. It could just be my babies though, yours might be fine!! Have fun, my girls love to swim now and get so excited when they see the pool!!

I guess I didn't take any of mine in the pool until around 6 months at least, but that's only because none of my kids were born at a time when they could go in at a younger age. They were all at least 6 months their first summer. I don't think yours are too young if you want to take them in with you & dip them in a bit. They might really enjoy it. The only thing you have to be careful about is that most doctors don't recommend sunscreen until 6 months.

We have a great indoor kiddie pool (it is sloped so it's like going into a lake or ocean and it's pretty warm). We took them at 5 months -- we would have taken them earlier, but we did an actual "get the babies acquainted with the pool" lesson with a lifeguard--it was great! We learned we can actually "dunk" the babies--she showed us the safe way to do it and they don't seem to mind it. We only keep them in the water for 20 - 30 minutes (the prep takes just as long as the actual pool part)--they've been 3 times so far and they love it! By this last time they were smiling and laughing in the water.

We did not introduce the pool until the kids were 6 months (that was how old they were when summer came around). We would pull them around in baby floats when we had them in the big pool. The baby pool we'd put a little water in and they were not sitting up well at 6 months, so I would take the bumbo seats and sit them in the pool so they could splash with their feet. They enjoyed it. Good luck!

The boys were 5 weeks old. It was super hot and they were in for about 10 minutes. They were so happy with their diaper filled with cool water. They were cooled off and happier than ever. We go every other week and they love it.

Of course it is over 100 degrees here.

We tried a warm spa at 4 months and they LOVED it. We tried a kiddie pool with 2 inches of water in it and they liked that too (at 6 months). We've never tried a big pool. I think a lot of them are kind of cold (at least for me).

We took the boys when they were about 6 months old. They loved it and still do. GL!

We took the LOs in for the first time today. We had dipped their feet in before, but it seemed so cold that I didn't want them to get chilled. However, today they were in for quite a while and did fine. At first they didn't like it, but soon they were having fun. It was our own pool, so every thing was real low key.

We took ours for the 1st time about 2 weeks ago....the water temp was 86 degrees i think and 95 outside...

I think that they would be fine now if you wanted to and the water was warm enough..
