Oh my gosh. Karina has always done a little screeching, but this is getting out of hand. She screeches this super high pitch ALL THE TIME. It happens when she's happy, sad, mad or tired. I don't know what to do with her. At 4 months adjusted age, I'm guessing there isn't anything I can do to help her understand that she needs to use her indoor voice. I don't know if she is just exploring her voice or if I can expect this from now on. I hope it's just a phase. Please tell me The Screecher Creature is just a phase.

I have a screecher too! I think Sophia is exploring her voice and how loud she can be! I hope it is just a phase that she is going through too!

Anna's been crazy with this the last couple weeks. I think she's just trying out her voice, and she seems so proud of herself at the loud noise she can make! We just try not to encourage her. It's cute now, but it won't be for long!

My Jake is a screamer too! It has gotten better, but he still does it when he's excited. Hang in there!

My Gracie does the same thing, and has been for about two weeks now! She even does it when she wakes up in the middle of the night- and wakes her brother. Most of the time she is smiling while screeching- but sometimes, when she is mad, she is LOUD!!

Oh -- mine did the screaching thing too at about that age -- for about a month. Then it went away for a long time. Now it's back again - -though they only seem to do it when i take one out of one room and leave the other (like for diaper changes) -- and they screach back and forth to eachother -- kind of like "hear I am!!!" -- its actually kind of cute now - since it's not very often - or very long. :winking0009:

My DD is roughly the same age, and also a screecher! I'm betting on it being a stage (if not, how will we survive?!).

Sofie has been doing this too! I still cant hear anything but a ringing in my right ear from dinner tonight!

I have been using a serious face and whispering to her that she needs to stop yelling but its not working, she looks right at me and does it again.

Josh is doing the same thing. At times it's really funny, he sounds like he's doing kung fu  but other times he just yells because he can. I do think it's true that they are discovering their voice and all it can do.

It did go away when I had my screechers at that age. But, unfortunately, it's back again. And worse.

I'm with Cohlee, the ringing in my ears is horrible!!!! LOL.

No one ever gave me the ear plugs I asked for at Christmas time. I hope it is just a phase!

I started a similar topic a week or so ago. We think our screamer is going to damage our ears. We feel like we can not leave the house because we can not make her stop squealing. It is embarrassing. I would LOVE for her to stop. I think it is getting on her sisters nerves too. My mom tried squealing back at her, but that made no difference. (she did laugh at it, though)

I have a screecher too! AJ is SO LOUD. It is unbelievable how high and loud his voice can get!! His favorite screeching time is around 7 am, when big sis is still sound asleep, and mama is trying to get a little more sleep before wake-up time! Once he's awake, he wants to let everyone know!

I was playing with DH's little digital camera today, trying to get some video clips because AJ was shrieking constantly. Of course, everytime I hit the record button, he'd go quiet! But, I did get a couple of 'minor' shrieks in the clip below (around 20 seconds into the clip... and ignore the fact that I sound like a munchkin from wizard of oz  )

    AJ screeching

He's been screeching for about a month now...
