I had planned to get one of those big bouncing balls with a handle you can jump around on. My nephew has one and even though the boys can barely use it since they are not big enough, they like trying it. Then in the Christmas thread here, I saw mention of the Rody horse and thought this might be perfect. My boys are almost 3 1/2. Any positives or negatives about this? Thanks!

I've been eyeing them, too, for a nephew. Amazon has some good reviews of them and about the same price.

My kids got to play with them once at a playgroup and had a great time. Disclaimer - they were under 2 at the time, so I don't know what your older boys would think.

Our sitter has one and the girls play with it sometimes. When they do play with it they love it.

Interesting! I think my boys would like them because they LOVE horses and cowboys and hunting (they are riding everything). I do want to say that they also have those bouncy balls with handles in a smaller size...we have one and the boys LOVE that also (in fact, it's often a horse in their world).

We had thought of them too. Another family that we get together with often has 2 of them (for their 3 & 5 yr olds). Mine love bouncing around all over the place on them when we go over there. They are pretty sturdy and easier for them to sit and balance on than those round ball ones. I'd go for it!

Thanks everyone! I am going to have it be a gift from grandma!

My kids love to ride it at the toy store, for what that's worth. But we have one of those hippity-hop (ball with handle) and they couldn't even ride the smallest size until they were about 3.5. They aren't really that into it. I think unless you have a big family room or some other open space where they can go nuts with it, the appeal might wear off pretty quickly.

The girls OT had this. My girls liked to drag it around, but they did not have the leg strength to really get it going for long.

One DD would have played with it a lot and she could hop around on it now. My other DD would sit on it, but she still does not have the strenth to bounce up/forward very well.

I would suggest a trampoline--we get a lot more 'bouncies' out on it! They have used it daily for 2_ years (it is a small indoor kid one w/ a handle, not the huge ones that can be unsafe). Both her Pedi and her OT suggested it to help build up leg strength and endurance.
