If the boys want something they will say the word or words every single second (seriously) until they get it!!!! WHY???? If they ask for something and I tell them no..they do the same thing. It's driving me crazy b/c it's in stereo!!
Is this just my kids? Do they just not understand yet to only ask me once??? Any ideas on how to handle this?

Do you verbally reply if it is a yes or just physically? I mean do you say yes/ok/I will get you some or do you just go about the process of actually getting it? The reason is I ask is I found at one point my children were asking continuously and finally I realized I wasn't verbally acknowledging them if it was a yes, only if it was a no. If they asked for a drink I would walk towards the cabinet for a cup which meant to me that I was doing it but it didn't necessarily mean it to them. Once I paid more attention to my verbal responses I saw huge improvement!

Yes, I respond verbally both ways. That's why I can't understand why they keep asking?

Because they don't like the answer.

I think part of it's just being two! My girls do the same thing. I've definitely found like ehm that verbally acknowledging that I'm getting x, or we can do y after z helps. But I really think it's just part of the developmental process!

That is an excellent point! It never dawned on me that that's what was happening but now that you say it, you are totally right!

Ds does this all the time. It doesn't matter how I respond. It's like he has to say it a set number of times no matter what. And it's not so much asking for something, either. The most common question is "Do you hear the ____?" Fill in the blank with just about anything that makes any noise. Including the word noise. Drives me nuts. I do try to verbally respond when I can, but after the bazillionth time, I quit.
