Just wanted to share about helpful my son's lovey has been as far as falling asleep. (He has one of those little stuffed animal head/blankets). We introduced loveys at 5 months when my LOs moved to their cribs. DS has always held his as he sleeps. It turns out that DS's lovey is a strong "sleep association" for him.

I recently decided to stop nursing DS to sleep for naps. So I've been reading him a book and then I cuddle him for a couple of minutes while he holds his lovey. As soon as I start cuddling him with his lovey, his eyes start to close. It's almost like his lovey is a drug! It's nice that other people can put him down for naps now since I don't have to be there to nurse him.

DD, on the other hand, doesn't care much about her lovey. I guess it just depends on the kid. If you're thinking about introducing a lovey, you may want to try it.

That's a great idea!!!! my kids never really had to have something... but they were also poor sleepers. No matter what I did though, they never got attached to anything!

We got "Ookies" from the NICU and had to buy 2 more so we could wash them! The boys won't sleep without them. It's great for car rides too! One is much more attached than the other, but they both love them.

Thanks for the tip! We were given a couple of super soft loveys at my baby shower but haven't given them to the boys yet. But they just turned 5 months old, and just started STTN semi-consistently, so now sounds like a good time to introduce them.

My eldest daughter got attached to her lovey and it was not even something I had noticed was a strong attachement till I went to wash it and didnt have it dry in time for bedtime. We couldn't figure out why she didnt sleep well that night. Morning came and the five month old nearly leaped out of daddy's arms when she saw me bring the lovey to her.

With the twins, I introduced a lovey pretty early on since I noticed how incredibly helpful it was -just as the PP, it helped with sleep and soothing. One twin is more attached than the other but they both seem to enjoy having it to snuggle during naptime and nighttime.

 how sweet! Amber is just like that with her bunny it is very cute. Ruby will snuggle up to any one of her teddies but Amber HAS to have this little pink bunny or else she just doesn't settle she sucks one of it's ears and strokes it with both hands - melts my heart to watch. I agree it is definately worth a try!

YAY! We're finding the same thing here! My cousin gave us 3 monkey blankies (stuffed head things) two weeks ago. So each baby has one and then there's a "Spare" as the tag said :) Tanner LOVES it, cuddles it and will sleep w it too, Jace doesn't care as much for it either. Neither of my girls had anything like that so I think it's so cute for T to have one!
