The mother of all twin comments . . .

I went inside our local little coffee shop with all three kids; my boys nearing 4 and DD just turned 5 on Saturday. A woman approached me and said, "Twins?" At my nod, she continued with, "I bet they all just HATE each other, don't they?" :woah:

I'm thinking, "Seriously??! Did she really just ask me that . . . and in front of my kids???!"

I told her that no, they actually adore each other, take great care of each other, and all three are the best of friends.

I continue to be amazed at the comments people make. I just thought this particular question said a lot about this woman. Instead of noticing how well behaved they were (at the moment!), or how beautiful they were (you know, Mommy's bias!), or even just a standard twin comment, she choose to ask something very negative.

Anyway, just had to share. My jaw still involuntarily drops when I just think about this exchange.

Yeah, that's pretty rude. And I wonder why she would assume they hate each other? I thought the assumption was that twins are very close.

It is rude and sad that people think that. :( Why would they hate each other? :umm: People need to learn to :hush:

What a strange assumption on her part! Maybe if she had asked, "Do they fight just as much as regular siblings?" or something like that...but yeah, that was a weird comment.

Very weird and rude and not something you should say in front of children.

That wording is particularly rude. Wow. I've encountered things like "Do they fight all the time?" or "Do they like each other?" (both of which annoy me) but I've never encountered an assertion that they might hate each other!

People are so strange with the twin questions, where did she think up that one.

My old favourite "whose the evil one?" do they really think I'm going to point and say "oh that one" (no I don't have an evil one).

My answer to most twin questions well the negative one's is "twice the pleasure"

Oh my gosh!! :shok: That was awful!!

I too am surprised at how many people say "they must fight a lot". I mean, really? They are SISTERS, of course they fight. But they are also sweet and loving to each other too.

Thats uncalled for. People dont think before they say stuff. So rude. If anything Alisha and I are best friends! Sure we fight every now and then. But we love eachother. I would never use the word hate. I mean come on you've been together since day 1, growing up together. Ofcourse your going to have a special bond no one but yourselves will understand.

So rude, comments like that really get me mad!!
