Dh and I took ds to the library. We left as they were closing and we were telling ds we had to go home. Well, this lady looks at me and says "you need to get home and stay home. You look like you could go any day now"

    Oh my GOSH!!

Thankfully my dh pointed out that she was actually larger than I was, and obvisouly not pregnant and definitely not pregnant with twins

    But OH MY WORD!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate that comment. I got that last week from a man who could not stop staring at me. When I explained that 'no, I am not about to deliver--I am pregnant with twins and due in October," his response was, "Well, good luck with that!" Seriously awkward.

An old schoolmate was recently in town for 4th of July and I saw her at a street fair, she came up to me, said, "oh my gosh you're HUGE!! You should be home, you don't want your water to break right here do you??" I said I don't want it to break at all I'm only 7 months....and she cut me off there and said "you really are huge!!" and laughed.... I said, actually its twins... but on the verge of crying...who likes to hear they are huge? This is when Jay stepped in and said, "Do you have any idea how RUDE you are?? Why the **** would you say that to someone... You're pretty huge yourself..." (she really is... :p )
I guess your DH and my DF both have a protective side!!!

Isn't it great when our Dh's stick up for us. I continue to be amazed at the rudeness of perfect strangers. I have however, recently started using a different approach in response to these crazies...and it works very well.

I simply say "yes you're right, and I'm really glad. I've been blessed with two babies and my size is an indication that I'm helping them to grow big and strong. Don't you think I look great for having twins?

To which they stutter a yes, because they simply don't know what else to say.

    Works so far.

OMG that is rude!!! I am starting to get the "Oh good luck with that" when I tell people it is twins. I just say, I am excited it is twins and we are blessed. People don't get how rude they can be.

poor idiots...life must be a little strained going through life choking on their ignorance.

I often find myself reminding people that I am not handi-cap or diseased...I'm pregnant. I don't need to go home. I can still run to the grocery store. I am able to drive a car, use a phone and various other tasks that I could when I wasn't pregnant.

When I was about 25 weeks pregnant, a woman stopped me and said, "You must be having a boy. Your belly is huge. When I had my girls, I just grew here," and she gestured to her rear end.

I said, "Well, I don't know what I'm having, but the reason my belly is so big is that I'm having twins."

The woman looked at me and said, "Turn around." I was so surprised that I did as she asked (God only knows why).

She looked at my butt, looked at my face, and said, "You must be having a boy AND a girl."

I was SO ANNOYED! I looked her straight in the eye, rolled my eyes, and said, "Not necessarily. I've always had a big ***. Have a nice day" and strolled away.

    I'm sure you look great!

That was rude but at least they are still talking to you. I found at the end that people would leave the isle when they saw me coming. It seemed like they didn't want to have my water break on them. :rotflmbo:

AArRGGHHH! That is so rude! I have just recently gotten really self-conscious about how big I am and there still are many weeks to go! I get the raised eyebrows every time someone asks my due date and I say October. Then I have to go into the whole twin thing, and even then, I know they're thinking I'm already so enormous! I hate it! Show me one woman that enjoys people telling her she's big! People should just keep their mouths shut! On the other hand, I absolutely LOVE the people who say "You're having twins -- wow, you look great!" They make my day :D

When i was still working and well pregnant with my two, one of the "young" women that I work with was really excited(sometimes seemingly more so than I) about my twin pregnancy and told just about everyone that came in. One day the response from the customer was along the line of "oh good, I thought you were huge but was not going to say anything" and then proceeded to ask "so what happened did you take too many fertility pill???? WTH!! I think it was one of the few times in my life I was left speachless. Really glad she went with that first instinct to keep quite!

    People are strange..

Oh the last few weeks/months of my pregnancy I joked with people that it was my "duty" to go out in public. Just by being out I would make other pregnant women feel so much better about themselves! "I'm not that big am I?"LOL

good luck with your pregnancy. Take it easy on yourself! It is an amazing ride!

I've been getting that every time I go to the hospital for my NST, people see me in the wheelchair (cause I'm on bedrest, they won't let me walk in) and they smile knowingly and make some sort of comment like, "looks like you're in the right place" "are you going to have a baby today?" or the best is "good luck"

I never had a problem with being called "huge", you're clearly pregnant & pregnant with twins to boot- who cares!!!! enjoy that belly, you will probably never be that " huge" again....( it's a good thing)
P.S. I measured almost 60 weeks pregnant at 36 weeks with twins, and 9 weeks ahead with my son ( who weighed almost 11 lbs 2 weeks early) so yes I know huge.:) Good luck, and don't sweat the small stuff- consider how fortunate you are to have 2!
    Cheers, pam :)

I was visiting my mil in the hospital when I was about 26 weeks along and one of the nurses asked how far along I was and I told her that it was twins...she said, are you sure its not triplets! :) Also I was at the ob's office and the waiting room was full so I was having to stand, so another pregnant lady gets up and offers me her seat. I said no, she said I really need to stretch, you can have it...I kinda knew her by association, but not too good...she later told that mutual aquaintence that everyone in the office was talking about how big I was and that I must be having twins...hee, hee. It didn't really bother me...I was pretty HUGE! :)

AT least it was a perfect stranger telling you that! Great comeback from dh. My mom told me every day (until I told her not to) how "huge" I was. Honestly, I don't think I was all that big.

Good for your DH.......my rudest comment in the grocery store was I looked like I was going to explode any day. My DH jokingly said "No, she just came from the all you can eat buffet."

It seems like being pregnant invites open conversation, which I don't mind. But the rude comments and gestures are not so welcomed!!

I'm only 20 weeks but measuring 30. I've recently gotten a few comments like, "You look tired - any day now, right?" and "Not much longer, right?" This was after I was told I looked tired, worn out and ready to pop.

I respond by saying, "Oh no - I feel great! And I'm not due until December!" (Even though it's a lie because I'm constantly uncomfortable) People feel really bad after I say that - it makes me feel good. :blbl:

I've actually been contemplating telling people I'm having Valentine's day babies just to give them a hard time!

I've been getting the "good luck with that" also! Today was one time but then she said "that is so exciting" so it wasn't really that bad! I have a few people in my family keep insisting that I should enjoy taking the boys to the park and blah blah blah b/c I won't be able to walk soon b/c I'm getting so big. HELLO......just b/c I'm big and carrying twins doesn't mean I won't be able to walk! So therefore, I had to make a comment today to a family member "well when I sit around I tend to get more sore and stiff then when I walk around..I actually feel better when I'm moving around!" They really didn't have much to say about that! What really cracks me up is the fam member that keeps making those comments hasn't even had a child yet and who knows where she gets her "professional or experienced" advice from is beyond me....lol I just hope I don't get the rudeness, which I know I probably will but the bf is the quiet type and I'm the "loud mouth"...that'll be an experience!

You know, if anyone says this kind of crap to me, I'm just going to look them in the eye with my most very offended look and say "What do you mean? I'm not pregnant!" Just to see their reaction.

I hope you can find that humorous now. I sit here laughing because I can just picture that! I would be expecting the same old twin comments from her but NO......that just takes the cake for me. I would have been so mad if that had happened to me. But, instead I am...... :rotflmbo:
