The Lion King Live

My boys are 3. We just took them to Disney on Ice. They sat through the entire performance with rapt attention. Didn't squirm or complain. They do not watch TV. They have watched the Cars movie and Wall-E (they loved). They have watched an occasional Thomas the Train video during breathing treatments when they are really sick and getting treatments 4x a day. But they LOVED disney on ice. My question is about the Lion King stage production. It is 2 1/2 hours and that includes the intermission. I would like to take them. I know that sounds crazy but my kids do not act like 3 year olds. My mom who teaches thinks they would do very well. The recommended age however is 6. Has anyone attended the production? It is not until this fall. I hate to spend the money on tickets and they do not do well.

 

I wouldnt suggest it. It is wonderful but even having very mature girls we waited to do our first play till 5. My sister and I went to lion king when they were 3 and we both agreed it would have been to scary. The first act if delightful but the second act is dark. The hyenas and scar are very frightening. We are going to take the girls though the next time it's in town. My sister and I normal do one show a year at least. We did adamms family this year which was way too dark for them

 

Thank you. I decided to ask the boys about it since we have read the book. They both said they did not want to go. That it would be scary. I will wait a couple of years. I do think it would be too scary for them. They did agree to let their cousin babysit them so I could go so I am going to have an afternoon off and enjoy the show without kids.
