and grandma and grandpa are having a blast !

After many phone calls with my parents during Jack and Lily's fun - filled stay with them I am beginning to wonder if they have confused my children with someone else's. I am astounded by each phone call we have.

    1. We planned to meet in the middle of our two houses so I drove Jack and Lily the first 2 hours of the trip and then we met my parents, exchanged the kids and they drove Jack and Lily the remaining 2 hrs. of the (4hrs. ttl) trip to their house in Palm Beach. They refused to sleep and spent their 2 hours in the car with me whining and crying and screaming.
"Apparently", they were happy and playing without so much as a wimper when riding with g-ma and g-pa for the final 2 hours.

    2. G-ma and G-ma claim that they took Jack and Lily out to dinner last night and "apparently" Jack and Lily sat in their booster seats very well and they were able to actually have an appetizer, a drink, AND a main course with no meltdowns. This DOES NOT happen when DH and I take them out.

    3. For two mornings in a row now it has been reported that Jack has "apparently" slept in until 8am. WHAT????????????????

    4. My mother said that she took the kids on a 45 minute walk in the stroller yesterday and "apparently" Lily DID NOT try to escape or jump out of the stroller or even scream in displeasure. This claim is basically unbelievable.

I am so glad they are having so much fun but I remain in disbelief ...:)! I mean, I know they are great kids and I am very proud of them but why oh why are they so different when with mom? Anyway, all disbelief aside, they are having a wonderful time and I am so thankful that it is working out so well for all of us! I highly recommend this much needed break to anyone who may consider it!

I don't know how it happens, but for some reason grandparents can always get ours do to things that can't be done at home. I believe you must get some magic dust or something when you become a grandparent!! Or maybe they bribe them with chocolate!

Warning, TMI ---- would you believe AF came the first night the kids were gone!
We did go to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which I sobbed through, and we went out to dinner. The best part is just not having to be so darn careful about where I put things. For example the freedom of being able to set a water bottle on the table without worrying about Jack and Lily throwing a fit because they want to play with it and take the cap off and dump the water on the floor and then put the cap in their mouths, the freedom of being able to leave a bottle of wine on the counter without worrying about Jack throwing one of his footballs at it..... you get the picture!

She did say that they put them in their pack n plays at nap time and their plan was to give Jack and Lily an hour to fall asleep (like we do at home). Lily fell asleep right away but 55 mintues later Jack was still up. JUST when they were about to go in and get him he finally fell asleep and slept for 45 minutes. It is hard to believe he used to sleep for 3 hrs!

Anyway, I asked them to play around with the nap timing (which I am to chicken to do at home) and maybe we will figure it out!

    Thanks for asking!

That is awesome!!!! I am glad you are having fun! My kids stay with my parents quite a bit overnight and they are always so perfect for them, including sleeping in! I have to say, when the kids get a bit older it is great because they call grandma and ask if they can spend the night! How can my parents say no to that!!!

My kids are WAY better for their grandparents too. I remember being the same way when I was a kind. Grandparents are just so special! I'm glad you're having fun. You've inspired my husband and I to take a 3-night trip to the Bahamas at the end of February (sans kids).

This happens to me all the time. My girls are always better for everyone else than they are for me. Think of it this way. They love you enough that they can be themselves.....lol
