The itching is driving me mad

I have some type of pregnancy rash--red itchy bumps on my belly, and then little bug-bite-looking bumps on my feet and a few on my hands. I looked it up and forget the name of it, but it's supposedly mild and the OB said to use Benadryl orally or topically ... problem is, much of the time the Benadryl or other creams, lotions, etc., that I've tried barely touch it! Or they do but only for maybe half an hour and you're only supposed to apply the Benadryl cream 3-4 times a day. :( I do soak my feet in ice water and that helps more than anything, but I can't just keep doing that every half hour or hour--especially through the night when I'm trying to sleep. :(

My appt (where he Rx'ed the Benadryl) was on Wednesday and my induction is scheduled for Tuesday so I don't have long, but it is REALLY driving me nuts for now. Anyone experience something similar and find some form of relief other than Benadryl (or lotion, hydrocortisone cream, solarcaine, and Caladryl are the other things I've tried--all of which work, but only for a brief time)?

I'd recommend finding 'Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap' - you can find it at Whole Foods and other crunchy stores. I showered with it a couple of times a day and it helped. I also used an anti-itching lotion from Eucerin which helped a bit too.

I had the puppps rash bad, and ended up clearing it up with dandelion leaf, however it took close to a week to make a dent in it. Since you're so close to your induction, I don't think this will help you before you give birth - and I hear that it'll start clearing right up after birth.

    Good luck on Tuesday!

I had cholestasis of pregnancy which caused severe itching, but I always like to mention as it gets missed by doctors a lot. If u want to read more about it check out itchymoms.com. I know its probably not that but best to get the liver test just incase. PM me is u have any questions

I had the cholestasis as well and it's pretty severe. I was woken up constantly by the itching and was scratching my skin raw. My peri had me tested and we moved up the induction by a couple of days. It's probably just PUPPS but, since you have the itching on your hands and feet I would call in the morning and get the liver test to be sure. You don't want it to get worse.

That sounds like PUPPPS, which doesn't go away unless you deliver. So sorry, I hear its miserable!! I think you should call your OB again and tell her how miserable you are. I saw on the Discovery Health show Deliver Me where they went ahead and induced a young lady because her rash had gotten so bad.

Try an oatmeal bath for some extra help.
