The Hankins twins are here!

Just a quick post for now because I'm typing with one hand.
I was supposed to be induced Friday the 19th at 37W1D but after my doc appmt on Wednesday, I started to have contractions. I was dilated to 3 1/2 cm at the appointment, so I let my wrkplace know that I wouldn't be back the next day. I started having contractions at about 6pm a few minutes after my husband got home from work. It's usually crazy pandemonium around the house when daddy gets home cause the girls get excited and start running around. I chalked up contrax to being overstimulated and laid down to rest. Even posted here with a "what should i do" freakout.

After 3 hours I was still having contrax and DH and I went to walk around Walmart to get some last minute items. We took the girls to the hospital with us and mt=y dad met us there to pick them up. I was in prenatal triage from 9p-3a. The doc on call didn't want to admit me until I was at 5cm. My nurse could tell I was in pain, but I didn't want an IV for pain meds if I wasn't going to be admitted, so she lied and told the doc I was a 5 (I was a 4) and got a room and an epidural at about 3 am. On call doc wanted to start pitocin, but I knew my regular OB would do his rounds at 7a, so I told the nurses I wanted to wait till MY doc was there. He broke my water with baby A at around 8 and we only progressed to a 7. We started a small dose of pitocin at 10 to get me going.

The nurse came to check me a few times between then, but I was so tired I never paid attention to where I was. She came in at 1pm and said "you're a 10!" and then went and got the OR ready. We did a quick US and BOTH babies were head down!!! I was taken to the OR at 130pm. Lilly Noelle was born at 137 and Wesley Michael was born at 145. Both came out just screaming. DH got to hold both of them while doc was delivering placentas. I was able to watch the birth with mirrors and it was so cool!. It was kinda tough to push because the epi had me so numb, but being able to see really helped motivate.

Lilly's sugar was low (probably because I hadn't eaten in so long) and they kept her in the nursery on a cardiac monitor for 4 hours before they brought her to our room, but Wesley was able to come with us as soon as he was cleaned up. Lilly's sugar and overall health has been just fine since then.

Both weighed in at 5 lbs. 9oz and 18 1/2 inches long. Funny that they are identical aside from their anatomy. They came ON their 37 week due date. They are so beautiful. I know I said this would be short...
