I posted last night about the plans for today. It didn't go exactly as planned. I overslept by an hour and a half, but made it for the boys' pictures- I cannot wait for them to come in, should be about 2 to 3 weeks. I then left Micah and Zachary at daycare and headed home to get ready for the long drive to Miami for Joseph's Cranial Technologies appt. As I expected, traffic was AWFUL but I was coping fairly well until I got a call from ADT- we were having an "alarm event"- so I called DH to relay this and have him check on the house. He informed me that he was sitting in his car in our driveway waiting on the sheriff deputy cause it was NOT a false alarm- our house had been broken into. I was a bit short with him and told him that I had to go cause of the traffic, truth is I needed to get off the phone cause I had to sort my feelings out in my head.

Turns out, the person who broke in was surprised by the alarm- he (she?) broke in through the garage window (the only window without a sensor) and came into the house through the door which connects into the house. That door did have a sensor and this tripped the alarm, (s)he turned and went straight out the front door which is about 6 feet from where they entered. We were very blessed and didn't suffer any loss...we didn't find anything missing and there was no vandalism, DH had left the window in the garage ajar so it wasn't broken (the screen is a little bent.) I feel so freaked out though...I know everyone is OK but it really bothers me that there was someone in here that didn't belong...I'm not afraid, just freaked.

Sorry this is so long, and thanks if you made it this far. BTW- the fun lunch I had planned on South Beach ended up being a quick bite at Subway cause traffic turned a 104 mile trip into a 3 & 1/2 hour nightmare.

[IMG] Christina. I am so glad no one was home when it happened. Thank goodness the alarm scared (s)he away. I know you probably feel so violated knowing a stranger has been in your home.

That is scary having someone break in. I am glad nothing was taken and everyone is okay.

Oh my gosh, that is awful. I did think of you yesterday as I was coming home from my errands and taking the long way around to keep the girls asleep. I was hoping that your drive to Miami was okay. Actually, I was daydreaming about being on that drive too in the beautiful Florida sunshine rather than up here in the TEN degree weather!

I'm glad no one was hurt and nothing is missing. Keep safe.

I'm sorry to hear about the break-in, but I'm so glad that no one was in the house.

How thankful you all are that no one was home and nothing was taken.....how dare someone do that it just robs you of your security. I'm sorry your day didn't go as planned......I hope today works out better for you.

Christina! [IMG] That's awful! I am so happy you had your alarm on!!! [IMG] I don't usually do that when I am out running around for the day! [IMG] GOOD FOR YOU!!! YOU SCARED THE PERP OFF!!! [IMG]

We got a call from adt when we landed on vacation one day! Scary! Ours was the garage as well, but that was all it was - they tripped the alarm but couldn't get in because there was too much stuff in front of the door (like a car!)....

Thanks everyone for your well wishes and [IMG]. I didn't sleep very well last night but am feeling a bit better today. I spoke with the detective this morning and one of my neighbor kids saw some suspicious looking kids in the neighborhood yesterday so they will get together this afternoon and get a description. I notified all the neighbors last night of what happened and they will be on the lookout for interlopers.

I'm taking this as a wakeup call to be sure the alarm is set every time I leave. I also replaced the ADT yard sign that blew away in the last storm and dug out the window decals that I had never taken the time to put up...if there is a next time that someone comes looking for a sucker they'll know we are alarmed and will hopefully move on.

BTW MichelleL- it was a gorgeous day for the drive yesterday (supposed to be all week) maybe next time I make it I won't have so much on my mind and will enjoy it more [IMG]

How scary! On the bright side, I'd much rather have someone break in that wants to do it when no one is home as opposed to those who will do it when someone is in the house--those are the really crazy types! I bet this person won't bother your house again knowing that you have an alarm that works. I hope you get to have a better fun lunch soon! [IMG]
