    Hi everyone!

My boys are here! They were born at 36 weeks 2 days, and weighed 5lb5oz (Benjamin) and 5lb10oz (Cooper). My OB (and just about everyone around us) were very surprised they baked for as long as they did before coming - I was working up until the previous Friday (from home) - so I didn't even get a full week to myself before the babies arrived. No complaints, though.

    The story:

My water broke last Thursday morning as I was turning over in bed. At first I thought my bladder was just full, but then I couldn't stop the gush. Off to the hospital we rushed. I was very nervous about the impending C-section (first baby breech), and was having problems sleeping the night before due to the anxiety. My OB was great, visiting me prior to the operation and assuring me everything would be fine. In the OR, he even held my hand while I was being prepped (spinal, etc). The OR staff was great, especially the anesthesiologist, constantly monitoring me and asking me what I was feeling, and right there with a drug or modification to make me as comfy as possible. I really couldn't have asked for a better surgery - and this was my first (and hopefully last).

Apgar scores were 8/9 and 9/9. Ben was able to room with us, but Cooper had developed a spontaneous pneumothorax right after birth, so he spent the whole time in the NICU with a chest tube. Luckily, Cooper healed very well and very quickly, and we were all able to leave the hospital together as a family.

The nursing staff were great - very attentive - almost too attentive :p I had a constant stream of people coming in during the day, and a number of interruptions overnight as well. Needless to say, this started to affect my healing since I literally was not able to get 45 minutes of rest at a time. On the 3rd night, my OB suggested I take an ambien to sleep, have the nurse post a "do not disturb" sign, and have the nurses bottle feed Ben just overnight. Let me tell you, this probably saved my sanity. I did it on the 4th night as well. I wanted to be the supermommy and constantly breastfeed/take care of my boy, but reality set in and I realized that I needed to take care of myself first. I don't have an ounce of guilt for that.

The boys are doing well - DH and I are trying to figure out this whole feed/sleep schedule thing with twins, and I think we're coming along alright for now. He's home for 2 weeks with me, and then my mom is coming in for a week, possibly followed by his mom for a week, etc. We also have friends who have offered to help, even for just a few hours during the day. I'm taking full advantage of that!

Thanks to everyone on this board for their support and information, this site is priceless!!
