The boys are here

I didn't think I'd be posting this story for awhile, but here we go!

On Friday I woke up with a head ache and wasn't feeling well all day. I called my doctor, who happened to be away and she told me to call L and D. I spoke with the doctor on call and she said it sounded like the flu, and I should drink and lay down. I was persistant that it wasn't that and came in to L&D. They tested my urine and it was positive 3. So they decide to keep me over night and do a 24 hour urine sample and see where to go from there....

Just as a precaution, I can't eat past 6 on Saturday.

Saturday night at 10, the 24 hours is up. At 11, the nurses come in and get me up and away we go!! I still had no idea what was going on. My OB comes in and explains that my 24 hour urine results came back at plus 9 and that is it, we're having some babies!!

Grandt Edward came out screaming at 1:01 AM on December 28th. He weighed 2 lbs 14 oz and was 16 inches.
Grayson Michael also came out screaming at 1:04 AM weighing 2 lbs 2 oz and 14 inches.

We are very thankful I got sick, because Grayson cord was "ugly" as the doctor put it. If we would have waited a week he wouldn't have made it. Both boys are doing well in the nursery. Grandt is off the ventilator and recieving breast milk through his tube. Grayson has the ventilator on just in case, but is breathing on his own. The NICU staff is great.

Oh, well done! I am so pleased how things have turned out for you after such a rocky time! They are absolutley gorgeous. Please keep us updated on how things are going with your two little princes.

 

What a surprise!! Great job! They sound like they are at the same place my 3 pounders were at 33 weeks! Our NICU time was the hardest time of my life, but I know I'm a stronger, more compassionate person because of it. I'm so glad you're taking pictures! You will want to remember this time (even though you want it to be over as quickly as possible).
