The arrival of the Nelson twins...

I can't remember everywhere I have or have not posted in the last week. Here is a pasted copy of pieces from different posts, then a link to some pics!!!

I came in on Tuesday (2/5) for an NST, ended up admitted, was given terb and then indocin, neither really worked, Gabe (baby B ) had a couple bad decels, i was changed over to nifedipine, then I rejected my third dose (2/7)because of severe headaches, and NO DOCTORS were talking to me about any of the side effects, to me or babies, the plan, how long on it, what not. Early 2/8 morning, Gabe had the worst decel YET...hr 50 for like a minute, dr n nurses running in my room, massaging gabe externally, putting an oxygen mask on me...

I don't want to deliver 32 6/7 weekers, BUT...I cannot help but think gabe needs to be out. I think (n the docs think) the indocin lowered their fluids too much, causing variable decels in both babies, but scary decels in gabe (baby b ). I should be getting my official u/s in the next hour from m/f medicine tech OR doc on call... we may deliver right after that...

My first year with twins began Friday, 2/8, at 12:56 pm with the arrival of Jacoby and 12:57 pm with Gabriel's arrival. My twin baby boys and I all share a birthday!!!

Jacoby and Gabriel both came out SCREAMING!!! Hootin' and hollerin', and both scored an 8 and then a 9 on their apgars. Jacoby is 4.1 lbs and Gabe is 4.7 lbs. I couldn't be happier or more proud at this moment!!!

They have been in NICU for one week. Gabe has not gotten any special medical treatments. Jacoby was on a cpap for 6 hours after delivery, but then has not received anything since then. On Monday (2/11) Coby went on caffeine for apnea treatment. He's being taken off tomorrow because he is doing so well.

Yesterday (2/14...Happy Valentine's Day, Mom and Dad!), the boys graduated together to the step down unit. WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!! I am not the same person anymore, not after spending six days in the NICU unit and seeing what I have seen, heard what I have heard, feeling what I have felt. I am sooooooo grateful for the health of my own boys, but so sad for other mothers and fathers and families.

Today (2/15), Gabe went into a big boy crib and is receiving 50 ccs per feeding. Coby SHOULD be in a big boy crib by the end of the day, and is being bumped to 40 ccs by the end of today. Both are receiving EBM, as I have chosen to ebf. I pump WAY too much milk out in one sitting...my chest hurts from how big the bb's got...LOL.

Happy Birthday Gabriel, Jacoby, and Angel! What a present. They are adorable! Enjoy this sweet baby time.

 

Congrats I am so happy that everything is great with the boys! When mine are due they have a chance of falling on 4 different family bdays including their dads. Their is a poll going on which one they will land on. congrats again!
