My Dad weighs close to 300lbs and when I told him I was pushing 200lbs and he saw the picture (the same one on my avatar) he said, "you're as big as me! you're getting fat!"...it was all in jest of course but now i'm freaking out because I've already 60lbs and still have a few weeks to go. I'm gaining like 10lbs a week, ok maybe like 4-7lbs but I'm also starting to swell up really badly in my lower body and slightly in my arms and face. I have sausage toes now and no difference between my knees and legs...it's getting bad.

I feel so fat now...grrrrr. Is 60+lbs a lot for twins????

Girl, one glance at your arms and face and I will say that you are ALL baby!! Seriously, you look awesome. I would never guess that you've gained 60 pounds (of course, I don't know your height or what you looked like prepregnancy, but still!) -- I bet a decent percentage is that pesky swelling. And, to answer your question, from what I've read, that's generally a healthy amount of weight to gain while carrying twins -- no worries!

I had to read your post because last weekend my MIL called me "big" with no qualifiers. Thanks, lady. :)

thanks. I was 143lbs to begin with at 5'8" tall and am super close to 200lbs,like within a pound or two. It's rather depressing BUT I do live in Florida where it's a billion degrees, I am on bedrest, I can't stop shoveling food in my mouth, and my boys are 4lbs a piece..soooo taking that into account I guess it's not that bad.

And yeah, my MIL calls me big all the time....it's rather annoying.

You look beautiful, absolutely beautiful. In no way shape or form do you look fat. You have such a fantastic baby bump there that you should be proud of. Please believe me!
Maybe your dad wants company in his misery of being overweight but he can count you out-you look healthy and that is a GOOOOOOOD thing at this stage in the game.
    Beautiful!

I saw your new avie yesterday and thought wow she looks so great! All baby and still nice and thin face, arms etc. :) I was wishing I still looked that good! You look fabulous! Some people (shakes head), pp was right...he probably just wants company in the I am fat category so he's trying to get you to join the club LOL.

I love my dad too but every time I talk to mine lately he asks if hubby has scheduled the big V yet, ugh! Sometimes family has no tact even when they're joking!

    You look great!!!

ETA: Oh yeah, I've gained about 40 or so lbs at 29 weeks

Haven't you learned that you never take a mans word when it comes to weight? ;) Seriously, you do look great. As far as the weight gain is concerned, have you doctors said anything about it? I think if they were concerned they would recommend seeing a nutritionist or something.

Don't worry at all. I started gaining tons of weight (like you, up to 5 lbs per week) near the end of my last (non-twin) pregnancy. I lost more than 40 pounds within 6 weeks of delivery. I think it must have been from all swelling etc. And by the way, you don't look at all fat in your picture - your arms are still tiny. I think it's all in your belly - two placentas and two babies take up a lot of room!

I hate it when people make thoughtless comments! I'm went to the Dr. last week I 27 weeks and have gained 21 lbs. When my Dr. looked at the chart he said Wow... Well the scale wasn't nice to you this week. I was shocked!! I just laughed it off. I was very very sick in the beginning and LOVE being able to eat and keep it down now. Besides the extra pounds let me know that my kiddos are growing!

I think our fathers must be in the same boat. No tact at all. It was worse when I began eating more meals a day.
I finally looked at mine last week and smiled. Then I told him my doctors just informed me I need to put on more weight! He was shocked silent and so were others family members and friends.

I weighted in a 208lbs in Dec at a routine drs appt. Now I weigh in at 236lbs at 5'4. Hit me really strange to hear both my ob's in that practice and my peri's tell me that. Never once was weight a concern really till now. I was told my muscle mass makes up for alot of my weight.

I did end up saying that to someone! A man at work kept coming in and saying how big I was getting (as if I didn't freaking know!)....

So I said the above, (and I did know that he was working on losing a few pounds :diablo: ) I just couldn't deal anymore! He never said another word about my gaining weight... :spiteful:
