    Hello!
I have 16 day old girl twins and am mostly exclusively pumping with one nursing session a day so they don't lose the skill. My supply is great right now and I generally have a few days in the fridge. I'm hoping to start a freezer stash. I'm terrified of Lipase and waste so I wanted to test one bag to see if I should scald the bm first. My question is:
---how long should I leave in freezer before I check for the soapy smell?
    Thank you!

I never had this problem and I'm not sure about how long before you test it but there is a way to help reduce it if you DO have that issue:

Thanks! I'd like to avoid extra steps that's why I want to test out the milk first to see.
Anyone have any ideas? I just don't know if like 48 hours is enough time.

So even if you do have extra lipase in your milk it's not harmful to babies, they can drink it. Here's some more info from Kellymom: http://kellymom.com/bf/pumpingmoms/milkstorage/lipase-expressedmilk/

It's my understanding that it takes a long time for the lipase to work but I don't know for sure & can't offer a specific time to test. I think you just need to decide which is worse for you: tossing breastmilk that babes won't drink or scalding every bottle that goes in the freezer?
