My guys turned 3 last week! They have always had very difficult temperments (strong willed, challenging, pushing the boundries, ect). This past week they have increased their difficulty - constantly fighting, irritable a lot, won't feed themselves (even at daycare), not listening to anything I say, ect. Even 1-2-3 magic isn't working as well as it used to. I have heard that things are more difficult around each age transition, but this is worse than I ever remember (ie. turing 1, or turning 2, ect). They do have mild colds right now too, but are never this crabby with colds. Please tell me this get's better soon. I just don't know what else to do - except for the TV which is all that seems to help!!! Usually when the are difficult it is only for me, now they are doing their behaviors at daycare and even at ECFE today.

3 was/has been difficult. Now as we near 4, they are getting soooooo much better. The only thing I can recommend is consistency and plenty of time to work off energy. Repeat often: this too shall pass.

My mom (mother of 6) always said that three year olds were harder than two year olds.

I always tell my friends (and they agree) that 2 is easy ... towards 3 it's getting bad ... my oldest "changed" around 2 3/4 years (and she's in general a very easy girl) ... now at age 3 1/2 I am still hoping for some improvement soon ...

I have one 3 year old right now, I can't imagine what it will be like to have 2! :hug99:

I also thought that three was harder than two. Their little personalities seemed to come out more at that age and their energy levels seemed even higher than at two. It DOES get better but you're not alone - threes are tough!

When my two turned two years old, a friend of mine told me to prepare for the terrible two's. I did, but it didn't seem to be all that bad. They were both pretty easy going. They are almost 3, and I am sometimes at my wits end. All the fighting, tantrums, "no" to everything. . Three looks like it's going to be a constant battle ground.

I agree with the others, my oldest was 3 in June, the last six month have definatly been the most challenging. I am truly worried for when I have two of them - yikes!!

Well, I heard it as follows:

    Terrible Twos

    Troublesome Threes

    FINALLY Fours

    :D

What term do they have for tough one year olds???

Sorry you are going through that but thanks for the glimpse into my future...Yikes!!

Wow reading all the pps I'm so relieved I'm not the only one who has struggled with the 3's. I honestly thought we were the luckiest parents in the world having breezed through the 2s with no problems or tantrums ect. Age 3 has definently been challenging.
